Poor conditions!
This course is in horrible condition. Tees, Fairways, Greens and bunkers all horrible. I guess for $15 I shouldn't complain too much but I would expect a little more.
Easy to get lost!
Had a great time, course in good shape, the only difficulty was finding your way between holes, need to invest in some better signage for directions to next holes, writing was very small, and can be hard to understand for senior players nothing there but a coke machine, snack bar was at club house,, the 10th hole was marked #8, the little snack snack shack at the turn was in terrible shape, no thing there and had to truck close to a mile or 2 to get to the club house. that was the only difficulty.....
We're glad you had an overall great time and we really appreciate the feedback on what we can do to improve things for our golfers! We will pass these suggestions along and see what we can do! Thank you again!
Royal Oaks
Since I started playing golf I have played a lot of courses from coast to coast. Some have been great, some decent, some not so decent and some are just terrible. This course is without a doubt in the top five worse courses I have ever played. It reminded me of a course where the subdivision was built first and then the golf course squeezed in. First of all, the holes are so far spaced apart walking the course (which is my personal preference) is pretty much impossible. Second, there was a lot of ground under repair. Third, most of the fairways were not really fairways at all. I do understand that a lot of courses have had trouble with the fairways coming back due to the harsh winter but this was to a new level. There were places where there was no distinction between the middle of the fairway and the rough. Fourth, there are no holes that are risk reward. I felt like I was playing a mini golf course. Good shots were not rewarded. Yardage markers were not accurate. There were also way too many blind shots with no indicators about how far hazards were. Most courses will give some indicator on the tee box about how far it is to carry a hazard or at least how far it is to the front of a hazard. This course had neither, nor did the tee boxes resemble much of a tee box. My advise is to stay out of Maryville if you want to play golf.
We are so disappointed to hear about your not-so-great experience. We are always working to improve the golf course and hope one day you come back when things are in better condition. We really appreciate your attention to detail while providing this feedback, we will pass along all of these concerns. Thank you again.
putting on the Moon
Overall good course. Not sure when they Airated greens but it's like putting on the moon. Ball never rolled true , hopped, bounce and went wherever it wanted.
Thanks for the great review! We hope to see you back now that the greens are healed up nicely!
nice course but over charged
I booked my tee time with Golfnow for 22.00. I paid the booking fee online and it gave me a balance due at the course of 19.59 but i was told the fee was 23.00 when I checked in. Which was weird since the tee time was for a total of 22.00. Not sure if they had a computer glich but would make me consider not booking a tee time on Golfnow next time I play this course. The course layout has been changed since last season and not marked very well which makes it hard to navigate to some holes. Overall the course is in decent shape and a good value. They are working to improve the condition of the course so I am assuming it will be a nicer course to play later this year or next season
Thank you for your review. We appreciate you bringing some of these concerns to our attention. As far as the booking, you paid a deposit and a transaction fee online. When you get to the pro-shop, you owe the balance + sales tax. We're sorry for any confusion! Thank you!
Awful
Only 9 holes were open.
Everything appeared to be under repair. Fairways and 1st cut looked the same.
On some holes, the fairway was 50% dirt.
There were members in jeans yelling unpleasant things.
Don't waste your time or money!!!!
We're so sorry to hear you did not enjoy your round with us at Royal Oaks. Please reach out to us directly at ROteetimes@outlook.com, we would like to offer you a free round to come back out and give us another try when the course is in a little better shape. We are under construction to create 3 new greens, as well as a driving range and new club house! Thank you for letting us know your concerns.
Greens rolled quite well
Average condition given the time of year. Greens were kept and in good condition even after having been recently punched. Sent out as a twosome, but invited a single to play along...overall, a good day at the course.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course! Please come back soon when the course is in a little better shape. We'd love for you to come back out and try us again!
this course has many different features
I LOVE THIS COURSE AND HAVE PLAYED IT MANY TIMES WE ARE ALWAYS TREATED WELL THE GREENS WERE PUNCH TO LATE THIS YEAR TO RECOVER THUS THEYDO NOT PUT WELL BUT HAVE BEEN SOME OF THE BEST IN THE PAST AND I BELIEVE WILL BE AGAIN SOON THE BUNKERS ARE NEVER TOUCHED AND THE COURSE BEING IN A SUBDIVISION SEES CHILD TRAFFIC WE GENERALLY RAKE IT AND PLACE IT OR JUST BEAT IT OUT
Nice course for the money.
Great course. Several holes that have nice water features. Weaves in and out of a neighborhood so there are a lot of houses especially on the front nine. My round was played in the rain and the course did fill with water on 3 holes. Also the cart path could use some mantinence. They have gas powered golf carts that made me wonder if I would make it up a couple of the hills. Overall it is a really nice course and hard to beat for the price paid.
weather
forecast was for mostly sunny and mid 50s actual weather very low heavy clouds and never got to 38 also windy gave up after hole #12
Great experience
The Friendly staff was very helpful navigating this neighborhood course. The greens were perfect but the traps needed some work
Pretty good course
The overall condition was average. There were a couple of holes that have work going on. Nice fairways, greens were a little beat up. The layout was the thing I didn't really like. The cart paths from hole to hole is a bit confusing and in some cases not clearly marked..lots of houses too on the front 9...I did really like a few of the holes. Very nice views also in the back 9. I would play it again if the price is right.
Great Value
Course was in great shape, especially for the price. Ask for directions to the first hole, then follow the signs or you may get lost in the neighborhood. Mostly open and somewhat forgiving. A few tight fairways and some trying waters. Plan to stay out for 18 holes, you don't pass the clubhouse at the turn.
Great Value for $$
Was first time there. Had difficulty finding a couple of holes as you are in the midst of a neighborhood. Lots of homes around. Was overall pleased with condition of course & challenge many holes presented. There was some work/improvements being made to some areas & a few holes but it presented no difficulty and did not take away from a great experience.
Great Course... I want to retire in this community!
This course was a blast to play! It weaves in and out of a very hilly neighborhood and then the back 9 progresses through the mountain valley. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, some tough tee shots and the smoothest greens I have ever putted! My only concern was that the greens were so soft any approach shot was sure to not only cause a dent, but blow out little chunks of green. This is on my "must play" list every time I come to Knoxville!
Good Experience
I played on a random weekday as a single while also getting rained on momentiarly. Coming into the neighborhood their are no signs to the proshop or signs to the first hole. I got lost going to multiple holes because I think they recently rearranged the holes. Course was in great shape except there were a few tee boxes that hadn't been cut for a few days that were way to long. Otherwise the course was in great condition.
Great shape!!
Course was in great shape. Will play it again soon
Another great GolfNow deal!
Royal Oaks is a great course to play for the money. I am not a fan of over-priced golf courses, and this one definately isn't. The mountain views were beautiful and most holes were maintained well. Some construction was going on in certain areas, but they seemed to be coming along with it. I recommend playing this course if you are in the Maryville area, and using GolfNow is a great way to get an unbeatable rate! They also seem to have more cheap rates than most courses on here.
SSSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW
Nice course, the marshals just have no clue. Tee time at 9am and we finished at 3:15. Slowest round ever played. We were a twosome.
quirky, fun course with some beautiful views
We really enjoyed this course. The layout is fun, the greens were in really great shape, and the value was unbelievable. Working your way through the subdivision to find the clubhouse was a bit odd, and finding your way around the course is kind of like being sent on a scavenger hunt, but we had fun with it.
We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your rounds with us. We are working to improve the conditions and hope you come back when conditions have a improved a little bit! Thank you for your feedback!
