Not far off from being REALLY nice

For the most part, I really enjoyed my round. There are a lot of positives about this course. Range balls/facilities are available and included in the price (though they needed to open more stalls on the range), the price is more than reasonable, the carts and GPS work well, and the layout is nice and scenic without being overly challenging. With limited exceptions, the price you pay is a DEAL. That said, there are a few areas of improvement. Many of the tee boxes (especially on the par 3s) need a fair amount of TLC. There were times when it was tough to find a good spot of grass to hit off of. The fairways were mostly nice, but there were a few brown/dry/bare patches here and there. The rough can hardly be classified as such because it's more like a shaggier fairway (but that makes for an easier round). Probably the biggest complaint would be the greens. In most cases, they are all shaggy and slow. Yes, for the most parts your putt would go where you aimed, but there were more than a couple of bumpy rolls. There were also a couple of greens that were sandy and being repaired.

Putting things into perspective, though, I genuinely enjoyed myself and will be back. This is by no means a "pristine" course like so many others in the desert, but for the money and the experience you get (all of the employees were incredibly friendly and helpful) I think it was worth it. It think this would be a great course for someone that doesn't take things too seriously (there are a fair amount of hazards you have to cover, but nothing too daunting) but still wants a solid test of golf. I'll be back (with similar expectations).

Continues trending down - Disappointing

The course was in poor shape. Tee boxes were chewed up and some had completely bare patches on them. Fairways were barren in many spots and where thee was grass, it was a mix of grasses - looks like a lack of attention over time. Bunkers were, well, terrible. Water standing in a couple that I observed and lacking sand in many. Lots of standing water. I've heard that Gary Player wants to take his name off this course. I have no idea if that's true, but if I were Gary, I'd definitely want my name off of it - at least the way it's been trending - down - for the past few years. Sad. There are much better choices in the area - try them first.

Always great

Course never disappoints. Greens have some brown spots but it’s 100+ during the day so. One of my favorite out in the PS area. Never disappoints.

Nice course

Good layout

Nice driving range.

It’s in good shape but a few more brown spots than I would expect for being early in the summer.

One of my biggest pet-peeves is what happened to all the ball washers that used to be at the Tees? Note that many other courses lack them also.

Thanks

Communication issues /conditions

Got to the course for early tee time and they informed me they don't take cash. Would be nice to know this in advance as that is what I brought to pay with. The starter asked me to go looking for cash. Miraculously the manager came with a huge wad of cash to give me change. The course was not in good shape. Greens were soooo long and sooooo slow. (Not manicured) there were broken water pipes around the course I had to actually drive through the fringe on a par 3 on the front nine to get to the next hole because there was 3 feet of standing water. Also, they never pair you with anyone else. They just send you out as a single and it gets awkward when you have to ask to play through foursomes. I am kind of saddened by the shape of the course. I first played this course in May of 2000 and had been coming back every summer. Doubt I will anymore. On two previous days the same week I played Indian Wells Celebrity and everything there is just much more together. Course was in amazing shape and staff was always there for any needs I had. They also have trackman at every range stall for warmup. ( a definite plus)

Work in progress

Course was nice ! Super challenging! The greens were a lil rough on some holes and long on all holes! But tou could tell they were letting the greens heal . Some rot on quite a few greens to which we wished they would have had better pin placements on most greens to help with this issue! But overall really really nice course ! Staff was super friendly to which they explained to us that they do a lot of course maintenance in summer

Fun layout

Greens were a little scuzzy but that’s expected this time of year. Great price and had the course to myself with early start. Free bottles of water and GPS included. Traps in great shape.

Slow pace of play

There are no Marshall’s, so the pace of play was terrible. Long waits at every hole starting on hole3. Made for a long day and couldn’t get into a rut hum. I would play again, if they had a faster pace. Course itself was nice and challenging.

Another Great Round

As usual, the Gary Player course at Mission Hills was very enjoyable. The course was in good shape and the weather was great. The pace of play was just average on this day as it took 4:30 for the round. That's a little slow for the desert at this time of year but it wasn't bad as the weather was great.

Not what it used to be

General conditions on the front nine were not good. It appears they have drifting sand issues and have not been able to overcome it. Greens on the front side were rough as well. Back nine was in much better condition and is farther from the drifting sand. Probably not worth the money at this point

I’ve never seen this course let it run-down as this bad. I suppose you can blame it on Covid19 but horrendous tee boxes to mediocre fairways at best and greens are hella slow.
