Lely Resort Golf & Country Club - Flamingo Island Course

As usual course is over watered and extremely soft. Greens were slow Too bad they let this RTJ go to seed.

Tom that was in the pro shop was the rudest person I hand encountered in months. Wanted to bring my son who is young with me to start to lean the game. Policy says can’t be under 8 years old, disappointing but understandable. The way he communicated this was to act as though we were trying to break the law, then belittled me as I told him to cancel the tee time. Don’t go to this place, and stay away from Tom. Heck of a way to promote the game for the younger generation, thanks a lot Lely Flamingo, my son didn’t get a great experience with his dad and a first look at a game I love.

Compared to other courses in Naples, It is overpriced.

Played the flamingo course. Fun course, fast greens, thick rough. Was in pretty good shape overall

I played the Flamingo course and the conditions were not so good. Some of the greens and tee boxes were not cut or set up for play by 9 am. The fairways and greens were decent but the rest of course was in rough shape. It seems to be not kept up as it used to and not worth the price being charged.

The staff was amazing, the layout was great, the pace of the game was phenomenal also. Would definitely be back! Highly recommend to anyone that wants to play golf.

This was my first time playing the Flamingo course at Lely. It did not disappoint. The course makes you think about almost every tee shot. You can’t just “grip it and rip it” on this course. You will do well if you make smart decisions off the tee and can shape your shots. The greens were in great shape but pretty slow which is a bit unusual for a course this nice. The course was somewhat wet so no roll out on tee shots which made the course a bit more challenging. All in all would definitely play again and would recommend to all.

The course was playing in very good conditions. The tee times were staggered in 8 minutes increments! Management needs to make it 10-12 or even 15 minutes due to absolute trash golfers out there. On the 8th hole a golf cart was left dead in the middle of the fairway, on the 9th hole our cart was clearly almost dead too. We had to get a new cart (clearly not properly cleaned or sanitized) and off we went to wait another 20 minutes to take our tee shots at the 10th hole. Staff wasn’t friendly, management did not apologize for their lack of maintenance people, Rangers or beverage cart when it was close to 95 degrees out.

Pins were Being pulled and bunkers raked, half the holes didn’t have a foam insert. Not up to code as far as I have seen during this pandemic.

It’s a nice challenging course, but the staff and management ruin the place. I will not be going back and that really sucks since I live so close.

A decent Robert Trent Jones course. I thought the layout and bunkering were very good. The course was in good shape tee to green, but the rough was really in poor condition.

The conditions on the front nine were much better than the back nine. However, still really enjoyed the course, Not boring at all.

Biggest complaint is they don't have water anywhere on the course except at the clubhouse, so you could get water at the beginning and then again at the turn, but on hot days I need more than that.

Have played this course before and Lely was always a treat to play. This course is in fair condition at best and not in the pristine condition I remember. Still challanging for senior golfer.

The Flamingo course is a very good layout. Playing very long due to all the recent rain so not able to hit many irons. Enjoyable and look forward to playing it when the turf is firmer.

16 of 18 greens were unplayable given the grass cuttings left on the green. We were constantly putting through clumps of grass cuttings. We played with 2 members who were embarrassed and suggested that we try for some type of refund. We simply left the course.

First time on Flamingo but have played Lely’s Mustang course several times over the past 10 years. Conditions today were well below my expectations based on those rounds. No question some of that is due to Covid-19, and some is due to 3 previous days of heavy rain preventing mowing some of the course. Driving range also closed, so couldn’t warm up. Greens were very good but fairways and tee boxes were mediocre. Traps were unplayable due to the recent rains so we were told to place any shots out of them into the grass; certainly understandable given the rain. Worst part was no water available to drink, and only one beverage cart for 36 holes (that is, covering both of the Flamingo and Mustang courses). When we asked for water before the first tee we were told the cart was out there but we never got service despite calling the pro shop out of desperation and asking them to bring us water by the time we got to the 14th tee. Very hot and humid, so we were parched by the 18th hole. Very willing to overlook glitches given the challenges of the pandemic but we paid too much for those conditions and failure to provide water. Unacceptable. I will not go back.
