Disappointing
Overall I was really unhappy with how this course turned out. I'm not even sure why they call it a golf resort.
The start and end of my day were unpleasant experiences with bag drop attendants who looked as if they could care less who played. The pro shop person and cart girl were both friendly and helpful though.
As for the course, it really needs some work. Mud ball off every tee, on a day where it didn't rain at all. Greens are pretty rough around the edges but roll surprisingly well. Also, the championship tee markers were not placed on every hole... As if to say that no one plays them? Well I was back there.
Pace of play is horribly slow. Due in part to the speed of the carts, and lack of rangers. If you play here plan for 5 hours plus.
Course layout was ok, not as great as advertised. At the end of the day if you play here cheaply and don't mind a course that needs some attention, you may enjoy it. I personally will not be back, simply because of the lack of maintenance.
An attractive resort course
My wife and I played on my birthday... Overall, an attractive, well maintained course.... They'd had a lot of rain recently and first 2 holes were cart paths only and the rest of the course was very wet. We enjoyed playing and will try again in the future when it's dry.
lely
The Flamingo was the only course open. It was extremely wet and cart path only was allowed. We would have been better off walking because the cart paths are so far from the fairways. Also, we weren't told all the greens had been top dressed. We quit after 9 holes. This was my first bad experience at Lely. It wasn't their fault that it rained, however, the course probably should have been closed.
Sub-par course!
I was really looking forward to playing this course. The pictures on the website look amazing however i was extremely disappointed. The associate behind the counter was unfriendly and was quick to get me out of the pro shop. Didn't explain course rules or where things were located. There is no starter to point you in the right direction either. The course was in awful condition. The fairways looked dead, the greens had had sand all over them so you couldn't really putt well. Overall this course was sub par. Play another course in the area.
course was too wet to play
good course but just too wet for play never should have been open to public even for $70 no ranger on course group in front of us very slow finally let us play through on 12th hole after call to pro shop. I liked the layout just to wet cart path only but even the paths where overfilled with water also said greens where back from being plugged not the case not impressed recommend play Hammock Bay or the Rookery instead both top notch courses and staff excellent
Not worth playing Flamingo in this condition
After the heavy rain the course is in a very bad condition. On the fairways, it's almost impossible to find à dry spot to place your feet or the ball on. Outside the fairways you can't even find your ball, the grass is too long. Greens where heavily sanded. Wide fairways make the play very slow when it's car paths only. We quit playing after 9 holes in 2h30m. We paid $49 but without a word about the condition of the course.
Great value for the money...
Great golf course for anyone. Has driving range and GPS included in price.
Gem not taken care of
We were really disappointed by this course. It was in terrible shape (greens aerrated, traps full of "not sand" and fairways had not been cut in a long time.....as long as the rough in most parts).
To make matters worse, the sprinklers were running on all of the front nine greens until we walked on to them (they were following us). Traps were soaked because of this and the aerrated greens were impossible to read/play. We had to flag down a grounds crew to stop this from happening.
Finally, they left the sprinklers on while we played the 18 th green (got soaked and not fun playing while getting sprayed).
We went into the clubhouse afterwards to raise our concerns and were very casually dismissed with no apology.
There are much better courses in the area for similar our less money. Play elsewhere!
Potential with good layout
This course has a wonderful layout with challenging holes and large greens. The course was not in great shape. Fairways needed cutting - grass was in seed. I only expect that in a pasture. Greens were good - large, readable, fair, and hard. Grass on tee blocks also required attention - it was long. Driving range was good - wide for many people. Chipping area, practice bunker and practice green all up to snuff. Client service at arrival was the savior here.
Wide open - didn't lost any balls. Greens had just had some work recently and though it was obvious, it wasn't too bad.
Over all it was a great time. Being that it was almost June, I was one of the few people on the course which was awesome!
Nice Course
Greens were just aerated. Tee decks and fringes were aerated just before our round. Greens are well guarded by bunkers. Would love to play again when course is in better condition. Overall, nice course. Great landscaping.
many bunkers and water traps
Great course. We played both the Flamingo and Mustang course over the weekend and had a great time. The Flamingo course was a bit more challenging than the Mustang but both were great to play.
Interesting well maintained Course
The Flamingo Course is moderately difficult ro play, some water, but managable.
Enjoyed the extras such as the range (included with greens fee) and the carts equipped with GPS
Well maintained and challenging course for the mid-handicapper.
Greens and tees were in exceptional shape.
You won't be disappointed
I played the Flamingo and enjoyed it so much we booked the Mustang for the next day. Both courses are absolutely gorgeous. Very well maintained, nice driving range and putting green. Its a little pricey but worth the money I will definitely go back. Every hole at Flamingo could be used as a postcard. We all loved it.
Not worth the money for what you get.
Extremely cold welcoming staff, like they were doing us a favor letting us play there. The course is OK but not worth the price they charge. Better off going to so many other courses in the Naples/t Myers area.
Fair course
Enjoyed the round but problem with 18th hole location. Two players Hit to 9th green of the double green. No rangers meant slow play as 4 some in front of us made us wait over 20 total minutes and had open holes in front of them. We were a 3 some. Would play again however.
Mediocre at best
Not bad, but could be a lot better. Biggest beef is pace of play. 5 hr round and waited on every hole. Decent layout that's fair, but challenging for this 16 index (shot 94 from back tees). Conditions were a bit on the rough side. A bit dried out other than the fairways and greens. $100 through GN was ok for the money, but probably won't be back.
Course is always well maintained.
lots of water -- some hole have a long carry over water to the green. A good challenge for a good golfer but my wife played and most par 4's were not designed for a shorter hitter.
Better value is available elsewhere.
Hard to get excited about a 5 hour round and waiting on every shot. They are putting way too many people out on the course.
