Hard greens, tough pin placements
The course was difficult, with hard greens that did not easily accept chip shots without much roll. Overall the course was in so-so shape with fairways that were not well manicured. Next time I would play somewhere else.
Flamingo better than Mustang!
Have played both courses multiple times over the past two winter seasons and enjoy Flamingo's layout over Mustang's. These courses are always busy and the staff, especially the starter, do their utmost to get you off on or before your designated tee time. Flamingo is an average to an above average course relative to the other top-rated/recommended courses I've played here in SW Florida.
Excellent condition.
Played Flamingo. Wide fairways requiring a good second shot. Par 3s all had water in play. Looked intimidating at times, but very fair. Really worth the trip and price...even in season.
We have played the course several times and it is one of out favorites. Being a twosome we have always met intersting and nice people to play with.
The only complaint would be that it appears that some of the on course rest room facilities were not as well attended to as we would have liked.
Surprisingly good greens on solid course!
My wife and I played early in the morning and sped around the course, which flows through a fairly well landscaped development. The fairways were in good shape and greens in excellent condition (probably 10+ on the stimpmeter). Par 3s are very demanding and not short hitting female friendly. Found the sand to be very heavy. Would enjoy playing it again.
slow play and no rangers
No carts available when we arrived. After checking in we waited approx another 10 minutes before we had a cart. Checked in with the starter and were told they were running late. Hit some balls and check back. We did and were sent to the tee. Except for the first hole, we waiting on every shot and at times there was a group on the green, group in the fairway and two groups on the tee box. No ranger to keep things moving. Nice course but way too long to take to play. Our first nine took over 2 1/2 hours. When we got to 10 and a group was waiting to tee off, with one in the fairway, we quit!
Very playable but not easy
Very nice track. pace of play was only 3 hours 20 minutes. We had a threesome and all of us carry a 6 handicap.
Great layout, well designed.
Played the Flamingo course (Trent Jones designed) at Lely and it was great. My home course is also a Trent Jones course, Cherry Hil in Ridgeway Canada.. Flamingo had many similar features. Fast true greens, lots sand, water on many holes. I'm in Naples for a week and we will play Flamingo again.
Nice course for holiday golf. Challengingly friendly!
Second time we've played here and pleased we came back. Course is interesting off a variety of tees. Lots of water and birdlife to go with it.
Pace of play for a full course was good at just over 4 hours. Greens slick as they all seem to be out here and you need to be the right side of the hole to have a chance of holing anything.
Staff efficient but not overly chatty but then we were there to golf not talk, and they were busy! Good menu in the clubhouse and lots of Sam Sneed memorabilia. Would definitely play again.
Good resort course...
I live at Lely and play the Flamingo and Mustang courses often. Both are good resort type courses with Flamingo Island being a bit more difficult. Staff is friendly and the courses are usually in decent shape. In season pace of play can vary widely. Today was 3.5 hours but can stretch to close to 5 hours when very busy.
The only real complaint is the in season rates are way too high. These courses are not worth $160 but if you are flexible as to the time you want to play you can get it at a reasonable price. A noon tee time today was $70. Summer is a bargain, $25 with a summer membership.
Excellent course.
Quick play, we'll maintained, love the greens. Only criticism bag boys need training in customer relations. Disinterested almost rude.
Greens are hard, not holding rest of course in excellent shape
Great to play at discounted price because of greens
Well designed, well maintained, but slow play detracts.
Play it early in the morning, because it gets very slow after noon.
A golfer's paradise.
Perfect condions, nice design and lot of challenge for 0 to 10 handicap players from green or black tees. Higher hcp players should PLAY FORWARD tees! Best greens I've played in a long, long time.
I had a good time playing at the course.
Course was in good condition. At arrivel the guys helpt us out and fairly easy to get around.great holes around the lakes.
Restaurant had very friendly staff and good food and drinks.
This is a reasonable course with all round good features, but nothing stunning
The course was in pretty reasonable shape; tees were not mowed (pretty long), fairways were nicely mowed and green and the greens were running true.
I felt the rental sets were below standard; I got a set of Nike irons and Pinnacle golf balls - so not very good in my opinion. We arrived well in advance of our tee time hoping to pick up breakfast before the round, but the restaurant was closed.
The course was pretty flat, wide fairways, slowish greens and no holes with change in elevation or where water was in play.
I'm a single figure handicap and was able to easily play to my handicap with terrible rental clubs and rock hard golf balls which is testament to the course difficulty; not a great test I didn't think.
All in all an ok course, but I wouldn't play it again. The Pro was very friendly, but the cart and club rental guy seemed like he had better things to do than serve you.
Fair
Pricey for the course as compared to other courses in the area. You can play nicer courses for the same money
Enjoyed the course and its challenges, elevated greens
I would play it throughout the winter at the reduced rates from Golf Now to fill in a foursome. Thanks for the opportunity and making it available.
Both courses are in great shape, Flamingo more challenging
Flamingo has well mantained fairways, greens are fast and the par 3's are a challenge. great layout
