Hammock Creek Golf Club
About
Hammock Creek Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Legacy Design, is a fabulous daily fee layout on the Treasure Coast of Florida. Opened in July of 1996, the Club has hosted several local, state, and national competitions. Featuring five sets of tees from 5,045 to 7,131 yards, the golf course is a favorite for both locals and snowbirds alike. The practice facility offers one acre of celebration turf to satisfy the most ardent game improvement golfers. The centerpiece of the Hammock Creek community though is the clubhouse, which completed an extensive renovation in October of 2020. The restaurant, verandahs, and dining deck offers breakfast and lunch daily, with a variety of daily and weekly specials to quench your thirst and satisfy your appetite.

Big turn around
The course is in great shape and I talked with one of the cart guys and he said the new greens keeper was doing a much better job and it shows. The greens are rolling around 9.5 they said now and will be at 11 I was told in a month or two. The cart guys are all nice. The bar staff is nice but the pro shop staff is arrogant. They have free buckets of range balls on GolfNow and give you a hard time when you ask for them. It's a fun golf course and is in great shape. Anywhere between 20-35 dollars is a good price IMO.
In Great Condition
Throughout the course the greens, fairways and tees in excellent condition. Played mid-afternoon on a Saturday and got finished in about 3 1/2 hours even with a 10 minute rain shower.
Hammock Creek
This was kind of an odd round of golf, but I'll review the course first. The course was in good shape. The greens are firm but very slow, fairways, tee boxes, and rough are will maintained with very few bad patches. The driving range and putting green were also well maintained.
It seems that the locals view the course as a park. I was the last person on the course, and I had a couple drive by on their bicycles, a guy taking his dogs outside to potty, boys fishing on two different holes, a lady walking her two big dogs that wanted to eat me, and a group playing football on the 17th fairway. People got out of the way when they saw me coming, but this is the first time I've seen activity like this on this nice of a course.
The biggest thing that bothered me was the golf carts, If I drove more than a few feet off the path, the cart shut down and a message popped up on the on-board GPS to put the cart in reverse to go back to the path. It crawls backwards until it's in range and then goes back to normal. The course was a bit wet, but I've been driving golf carts for more than 30 years and know how to respect the course. This really slowed my pace of play because I often had to walk a ways to find my ball, and then I sometimes had to walk back to the cart to change clubs. This is the first course I've seen to set the carts up this way, and I don't think I'd go back because of this.
Regular watering makes difference
The green condition has been maintained well in the past few months. Regular watering everyday makes big difference. I wish the grass could be cut a bit shorter so the green speed could be more consistent.
Course drained well
Very heavy rains started on 4th hole. Stopped all play for 45 minutes. Returned playing and the course drained very quickly.
There are no lightning shelters. Need some every 3rd or 4th hole due to summer storms.
Great course
Great course 5 out of 5 will play again
Staff was very friendly
Great Staff
Great day, excellent staff and course was in great shape.
Love Playing This Course
Played here plenty . Very challenging. Greens were great. Fairways nice. A few patchy areas around course (didn't affect play) that would have made overall looks of the course GREAT!
One of my Favorites
This was my fourth time playing Hammock Creek. It is always enjoyable.
Good for the long game.
A good course to get your drives and fairway woods in order. A wide course that allows moderate slicing or hooking. Greens were in very good condition. Course was not crowded and 18holes were played in three hours. For a long course it was fun to play in my old age of 86 years.
Great course
i lived at hammock creek in 2003-2004, and haven't played there much in the last year or so. as always, it is a great layout, has a back to nature feel, no condo lined fairways, natural woodland settings ponds and lakes, wildlife abounds. the fairways are wide, greens are big and well groomed, and the $21 price I got from Golf Now was a GREAT DEAL !! one of the best semi public courses in our area, and a great golf experience, tyr it, I don't think you will be disappointed. I plan to play there a lot more this summer .
Hammock creek
Excellent course a great test of golf definitely. Going back
New greens disappointing but great course
I was surprised at the condition of the new greens. First, many greens had areas under repair that were not cordoned off. This made for difficult putting if you landed in the area or had to putt through it. Also, the greens were quite slow, but consistent from hole to hole. I love the course layout and will definitely play it again.
If they mowed the greens this course would be FANTASTIC.
I played this course right after a rain storm but it was apparent that the greens had not been mowed in days. And that in general this course is not all that well maintained. It is disappointing because this course has great potential. As a Jack Nicklaus course I expected more. It is a nice layout and there are some very fun holes. It just wasn't maintained at all.
Less than expected
Great pace of play( despite no marshall )
fairways not in great conditions
Greens extremely slow and inconsistent
Average for the Area
This course could use a good greens Keeper. Rough needed mowing and greens had bad areas. For the money this was an average course. The staff and starters were really nice.
Jack should wep
Fairways sparse turf cover.
Greens were disappointingly grainy and slow.
30% are damaged.
Course has gone downhill in the past 4 months
Play the champions club or Florida club instead.
Both withi 5 miles and better priced
Good overall
Course was great place to play. Only problem was greens had many bare spots under repair. They just put in new grass and they haven't fully came in yet. Golf now deal $40 was good value. Staff very friendly and helpfull.
this course forces you straight
I found this to be an excellent course to keep you in the fairways. Because the first cut of rough is longer than normal then it gets worse. A nice fairway hit is no gimme either with bunkers and water. Very trying but enjoyable day.
