Hammock Creek Golf Club
About
Hammock Creek Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Legacy Design, is a fabulous daily fee layout on the Treasure Coast of Florida. Opened in July of 1996, the Club has hosted several local, state, and national competitions. Featuring five sets of tees from 5,045 to 7,131 yards, the golf course is a favorite for both locals and snowbirds alike. The practice facility offers one acre of celebration turf to satisfy the most ardent game improvement golfers. The centerpiece of the Hammock Creek community though is the clubhouse, which completed an extensive renovation in October of 2020. The restaurant, verandahs, and dining deck offers breakfast and lunch daily, with a variety of daily and weekly specials to quench your thirst and satisfy your appetite.

Great course to try
Parking lot was full when we arrived - we expected a longer round, but it played in 3:30 for a foursome. Folks at check-in were very up-beat and eager to help. Maintenance of course was very good. Players had even fixed ball marks on greens. Greens were fair and true. Interesting playing challenges. Cart steering needed adjustment - only negative item. 19th hole was crowded but service was prompt; food was very good. Great experience.
Good course...except for the greens
The course is fairly open, yet can still be a nice challenge from the gold or black tees. The course was in good condition except for the greens which were brutally slow. This would be one of my favorite local courses if the greens were playable.
Above-average quality at a reasonable price.
This course is in generally good condition, with services such as bag pick-up on arrival. The layout is moderately challenging, as you would expect with a Jack Nicklaus design -- lots of opportunities for wayward balls to get in trouble without punishing you for every minor mistake. Overall, if you hit the ball reasonably straight and are playing from the right tees, you can score well here. Greens have been a tad slow the last two visits, but this wasn't the case earlier this year, so it may be a temporary measure leading to high season. Food is pretty good, although a bit pricey ($7.50 for a generous tuna salad sandwich with chips). Pace of play has been excellent -- less than four hours as part of a threesome in my latest round, although one friend has complained of slow rounds in peak season. The course rating tools on this website only allow you to choose "average" or "great" in the the "value for money" category. I wouldn't say it's great value, but if you can get one of the deals that are often offered on GolfNow, it's definitely above-average.
Wide fairways, well placed sand traps, and only few water haszerds
The course was in good shape. The greens are a little slow. This seems to be consistent with other reviews. The grass on the greens is not cut quite as short a one normally expects to see. A little practice putting before the round would help getting the right ball speed. I would defiantly play this course again.
Worth playing as a hot deal
Played on Monday around noon and the condition was as follows; tee boxes and fairways were good. Greens were slow, bumpy - clearly they were overwatered and haven't been cut / rolled. Started on #10 to accomodate large turnout. Pace of play was good. For the hot deal rate, this was a value. Normally HC rates are high for shoulder season.
Staff was very Friendly. Course was in good shape. Restaurant was good.
Like tyhe carts that have GPS Screens. Very helpful. The sister
Course, The President has the same carts and screens but seems more expensive for a round. The drive from WPBch is a little long but the price was right....
Course and greens are always in great condition.
I always enjoy playing this course. The staff is friendly. Green condition is always important to me with any course and they keep the greens here in good condition all year round !!
Love the course
I would play the course again., but only at the $20-25 dollar rate. They sometime try to get $45. Talking to a locale member, the club went from over 200 members to around 25 members because of rate increases, etc
Always a good course and a challenge
Price is usually way too high unless you book a late time
A nice course
We enjoyed our round, a good corse that was in pretty good shape.
The fairways and routing was nice.
The first cut off the fairway was very difficult to find your ball and hard to hit out of.
I play Hammock Creek often. It is my favorite course in the area.
I am a snowbird but I play Hammock Creek every chance I get. They are always accommodating and treat me and my friends like members. When I come out as a single, which is often, they always find a way to fit me in. I have played there when the economy and golf were booming and when the economy has been bad. Their attitude towards the nonmember golfer like myself does not change.
The course was very wet, close to unplayable. Many greens had signs of disease.
Normallyy a very nice course to play, but due to many heavy rainstorms recently conditions warranted being closed. Some holes were almost impossible to play. We had to pick up the ball and find an area that we could hit from. Play was held up by 2 very slow foursomes. On the 12th hole we saw a ranger and we walked over to talk to him. We told him that our GPS said that we were 20 minutes behind and could he ask the lead foursome to pick up the pace. He refused and drove off.
Very nice option
This is always a nice course to play.
But your review system requires help - only 3 choices possible? the conditions were good but not prisitine and the value was good but not great, better than average (and my only two choices were average or great). Thanks.
Open course with tee boxes for all levels of play
A very enjoyable course. I was a little bit surprised at the tremendous number of fire ant mounds that we encountered
Very playable for all levels of players.
Not typical Nicholas course. Very golfer freindly.
It was very wet this day but, w/the amount of rain, course drained well. Greens were good and will be very good in a week or two.
great value
Have played Hammock Creek several times. Always a great value and good test of golf. Greens are much better than average for this area at this time of year.
Generally well maintained and solid layout
Had a miserable pouring rain we played in most of the day which made the course very wet. Cart path only is never much fun but given the soggy conditions it was the only way. The course was in pretty decent shape in spite of the wet conditions and the layout is definitely a solid one. Not really in mickey mouse holes or holes lacking in enough real estate because it was squeezed into a housing development. Overall a very solid track.
Good value, but not great conditions
For the money, this course is a good buy. However, the rough, such as it is, is impossible to hit out of for amateurs and needs some grooming to make it more playable. The hole designs are interesting and this is definitely not a walking course.
