Golf nut
This is the easier of the two courses at the LPGA due to its wider fairways and easier layout. The tips present a challenge because of the length but more forgiveness to land the ball in the fairways, blues and whites needs more precision to stay out of the rough on long shots. Greens are very slow but then it's been raining like cats and dogs so soggy wet condition prevail. Fairways are in good condition but offer no roll due to wet conditions. Pace of play and value is great. Range is very good and has new balls. Club house is well equipped and staff is friendly. If in town I like to play these courses at least twice a week.
Great Course in Daytona
Course is in great condition with excellent fairways and greens. Greens rolled nicely and we’re not slow. Only issue was the bunkers had washout areas and were muddy in parts. No beverage cart came by and it was very hot. Definitely recommend this course
lpga course
excellent course to play. holes are pretty long. par 4 are like par 5 on some local courses. it was a challenging course that all would like especially if your good....
Great track
I have played the hills course several times but I have not had the chance to play this one yet. Played on a Sunday and really enjoyed the course. A bit more suburban than the hills track, but still an excellent out.
Course in great shape from tee to green, bunkers a little flooded but to be expected. Also the first time I’ve played out here in years where it wasn’t cartpath only so that was also nice.
Only complaint was a group of members that were especially slow as to almost punish me. When I was behind them on a T and it was evident they should let me play through one of them said”Oh, you’re not going anywhere son”, to which I politely replied ok.
I understand I was playing as a single and have no rights, especially against a foursome but you don’t have to be a dick
Soggy
There had been a lot of rain the past few days so it was cart path only. Additionally the fairways wee very wet with the ba;ll pugging. Our shoes were soaked by the third hole
Bunker conditions
Played the Jones course and for the most part it was a very good day. Course in good shape, tee boxes good, greens slow but playable, bunkers in terrible shape. Most bunkers had little to no sand, no rakes, no rakes on the carts, hitting from the bunkers was like hitting off concrete. This course charges a lot of money to play and I would expect the playing conditions to live up to the charged rate.
Condition
We had a great round little rain but not a problem will play again soon the traps were recently sanded this course is in great shape considering the rain lately. I highly recommend this course
It’s OK, but it’s been better.
The course is fairly wet from all the rain. Soggy in a lot of places and the sand traps mostly have water in them. Overall the course is an average shape. It can use a bit more work. The greens run true and smooth. If you’re paying full price I will be disappointed. I would expect better for your money from LPGA. However given that I got a good discount through GolfNow it was about a breakeven value. The weather was extremely hot today. I would recommend playing early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Maintenance is Slipping
I have played the Jones Course at LPGA many times and enjoyed it as one of the best courses in our county. But this time was sorely disappointing because maintenance is obviously slipping. Weeds are growing everywhere. Nature is having its way with the course with untrimmed brush everywhere, tall cattails or rushes growing along all the lakes and obstructing what used to be beautiful views, and brush and vines intruding along the edges of every hole. Bunkers appear to have not been groomed for weeks. Tee pads have large bare areas. There were many large areas of uncut rough, some with grass or weeds more than a foot tall.
What has happened? Has the maintenance budget been severely cut? Has the Superintendent or GM gone missing?
The pace of play was very good most of the round, mainly because there were few people on the course. Perhaps the word is getting around about the course conditions.
Jones Course LPGA
Always and still one of the best courses and facilities in Volusia County. That said, you can see that COVID has taken its toll on the course. Likely lots of play, and not the same upkeep and conditions you come to expect from LPGA, esp when paying $69 (I had a $30 hot deal). This was especially true of the bunkers (many fairway ones had weeds in them), and the greens, whilst only being less than 7 or so years old, were crazy slow. Maybe all the rain has something to do with it as well, as many bunkers were literally unplayable, as that’s how full of water they are. Regardless, I am sure that management and the weather (hopefully cooperates), will eventually get this and the Hills (not played this year, so cannot fully comment) course back to the top 2 courses in Volusia, that they still are, but discerning golfers, expect them to be.
Course was wet - from lots of recent rains bud surprisingly decent
Good track.
Good track. Traps are water hazards. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes are in good shape. If the price to play was cheaper I would give 5 stars.
