TPC Tampa Bay

In town for a work convention but had time Monday morning to play before work started. Looked on GolfNow to see what my options were, checking prices and reading reviews. TPC Tampa was an option but it was a little pricey. I decided how often will I have the chance to play a TPC course so I book 7:17. Got to the course paid and asked if there was a discount for retired military and the guy in the pro shop took care of me. It was a little chilly by Florida standards so there was a two some in front of me and besides that I had the entire course to myself. Greens were quick but fair. Lost my fair share of balls but loved the course. If you get a chance play TPC Tampa.

Was having a good round but we got rained out and we were unable to finish after 11 holes unfortunately

This is kind of a strange review because I used all my GolfPass points and my friend and I played here for $15 each. And for $15 I have zero complaints but for the normal price the play was too slow and there were no rangers. There were singles that were moving around the golf course jumping onto different holes in front of groups and joining groups that really slowed it down. The course is awesome. The greens are some of the best I've seen. I'll probably never get to play here again because of the normal price even on GolfNow with hot deals it's way beyond me. Glad I was able to play it once.

We played on a weekend when lots of rain was predicted. We endured 2 downpours, one in 3&4, the last one on 17 chased us off the course for the day. The course drained remarkably well and was playable despite Mother Nature’s revenge! The range was closed so our warm up was limited to chipping and putting. The clubhouse food was very good and lunch inside dry conditions was a welcomed relief!

The back nine is challenging. Nice to play a pro course once in a while. Fairways were in very good condition. Greens could use a little work. The old cups were bad on a few holes. Well worth a hot deal. The course doesn’t warrant the retail price that is charged. Should be a $75-$100 round.

I am strict with my reviews as this is my first and only 5-star review. I think TPC Tampa offers good value with the summer pricing. Clubhouse is nice, the practise area is sufficient for a longer warm-up. Greens played reasonably fast, but nothing crazy. Fairways and roughs were good quality as well. The bunkers I visited had plenty of sand so no complaints. The layout and tee setup allows a challenging round for all skill levels.

Course is kinda rough. Range is bad hitting out of dirt. Grass needs cut. Can tell the course get alot of play but TPC standards not.

The greens were very fast today, fairways were tight, thick Bermuda and st Augustine rough made missing greens and fairways punishing. Only downsides were the sand in the bunkers was inconsistent and hard also The range balls are very hard and not good quality especially at this type of course, not a good idea to hit woods on the range there.

Overall good condition considering the heat wave going on. Fairly tough course, local knowledge is helpful. Has the feel of a North Carolina course(tree lined fairways), then a Florida course. As you would expect the rough is not forgiving.
