About
Perdido Bay Golf Club has hosted several notable players including Jack Nicklaus, Tom Kite, and Curtis Strange. It also formerly served as the site to the Pensacola Open for a decade-long stretch and while it may not be host anymore it still preserves its integrity as a challenging, championship course. The golf course is long and narrow, rewarding both distance and accuracy. Although it is mostly flat there is some strategic mounding that causes tricky lies throughout. Perdido Bay Golf Club's fairways are flanked by multiple cuts of rough and the greens are large and undulating. Many of the greens, as well as the tees, are also elevated. In addition to the golf course, there are also extensive practice facilities that include a large driving range, putting green, chipping green, and greenside and fairway bunkers.

Third time we played here. will likely be the last. Biggest issue is the dirt and complete lack of sand in the numerous bunkers. Was in a bunker. Before entering saw 2 previous escape attempts. Very shallow club divits. Said to playing partners that it is likely I will hit a rocket across the green. This comment was before entering the bunker..Most greens have ponds very close. Sure enough, proceeded to hit a rocket over green into the pond. I had opened the club face as the shot was to a close pin. After my usual swing I managed to "dig" less than a half inch. You can't get the leading edge under the ball. A few holes later, one of my playing partners was in a bunker. He said, before hitting, he remembered what I had said. Told me he didn't open the face because of what I said. So he kept the face closed so getting under the ball would be easier. Same result. rocket out of the bunker. The dirt in the bunkers is a dark gray. Many tee boxes were mostly white sand with little grass. This sand should be in the bunkers, not on the tees. Proshop reception was fine. No carts in parking lot makes for much inconvenience. Practice areas seemed to be extensive. Appeared to be lighted for darkness use. A large parking area was available.

How Slow Can You Go
Play got progressively slower as the round went on. Two 3somes and a 4some ahead of us. The 4some played the last 11 holes with 2 holes in front of them open. No help from the rangers.

Fun course
Overall good. But they did let out a five sum ahead of us

Good but not great
Course conditions were decent for this time of year. Fairway grass was starting to grow, but many lies were really tight. Tee boxes were not in great shape for the most part. Bunkers had very little sand. The greens were in really good shape, firm and fast. Cart GPS was a nice touch. Staff was great from the starter to the PTO shop to the bar. Overall a nice day of golf.

Never Again
Had a good time but lots of water sides and on green approaches. Partner lost 2 sleeves of balls and almost did not finish. If you do not have control of your ball this is not the course for you.

Good greens and sand
‘‘Twas a cool and windy day(55 deg/30 mph) so not crowded and things moved along well.
Good course conditions as usual. A few traps had taken in sand from below or on the sides & turned gray but most traps are in great shape.
Got out a little early thanks to the starter. Felt sorry for the bev cart person who had to drive around in the cold and try to sell cold drinks.
Will be back - one of the nicer area courses.

Course in great condition vs the amount of play it gets. There are a few tee boxes in bad condition., overall great course to play. Staff at front desk excellent.
