The Savannahs Golf Course
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

4th of July Golf
Course was bust but play was fast, finished in 3 hours 45 minutes. Lots of water on almost every hole, good drives a big plus. The greens were in good shape and were a decent speed. Will come back again and try to overcome some of my mistakes on my drives.
East Coast Treat
The greens were in amazing shape and ran smooth and true. Some of the fairway were under some repair but did not interfere with play much.
Great course to.play, definitely worth the trip
Thank you EYOM for the four star rating and review from your recent visit to the Savannahs. We hope to see you again soon this season.
Interesting use of the lake
Some fairways are patchy, likely due to some water damage. The rough is...thick. The course likes to eat balls if your not on the fairway. Overall pay attention to the course lay out it’s challenging. Fun place!
Thank you gkharper for the feedback regarding your recent visit. We hope to see you again soon this season for another round with better conditions.
90 degree rule
Course in great shape but wet from previous weeks rains.
Even with 90 degree rule, course was very enjoyable to play.
Thanks dstark0 for the five star rating and review! We hope to see you again soon this season.
Water Everywhere, Even the Sky
My wife and I played here last year and fondly remembered the scenic and nature-filled fairways. However, we forgot about the numerous water hazards. This came back to bite us after bragging to the other family members in our foursome about the "open fairways and natural beauty" surrounding the course. Each of us lost numerous balls in creeks and ponds, tall brush, and trees that paralleled a couple of fairways.
As we approached the 4th green we were slowed by a brief thunderstorm. However, we completed our round in under 4 hours - a testimony to exceptional drainage and the fact that we were the only ones left except for a lone duffer who played through us twice on his way to completing 36 holes.
There was a confusing moment as we finished #5 and headed for the #6 tee. It's not well marked, and once you're on the cart path the signage has you heading down an adjoining fairway. We finally found it but there could be better directions for out-of-town guests.
Overall it was an enjoyable, albeit high-scoring round for everyone. We will be back, but on a dryer day.
Bring your A Game!
First time playing the course. Made the mistake of not warming up. Lots of water requires accuracy off the tee. Layout has many challenges that require good placement on the fairways. Greens recently spiked and rolled at an acceptable level. Several ground under repair areas. Clubhouse is sort of plain but in good shape. I'll be back after some time on the practice range!
Another nice golf round
Different wind different course like most around brevard.I like the challenge here.. It's feast or double..Fun day of golfing and it's so quiet here, no highway noise or planes just birds and gators..
Good not great
Enjoyed this course. Greens were good. Fairways were good . Layout was challenging. Played for $24 with cart. Several groups let me play through. Played in 2 1/4 hr.
Savanah's - after big storm
The course was quite wet - front nine - due to a storm the night before - probably why the greens were quite long and shaggy, very slow. Cart paths only but managed to play a twosome in 3.5 hrs with a little bit of wait after catching a 4 some. Played white tees due to the wet conditions. We both played well so that colored our opinions somewhat. Rained a little on hole 2 but after that was a great day on the course. Front nine a challenge due to the water left and right and front but back nine is more traditional with some wide open fairways on half the holes.
Thank you for the 4-Star review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your challenging round today. Thanks for coming out and we hope to see you again soon.
Great Round
I was invited to play with local golfer and fishing guide Captain Rick Worman who displayed the southern hospitality I’ve come to enjoy all over Florida. Check him out and this course for a great time.
Layout had water on almost every hole fairways were tight. Rough and fairways basically the same. Greens were in good shape you could tell they took care of them. Hard to control ball because it was so windy that once your ball got above tree line it was hard to tell what your ball would do. Sometimes it would carry and other time no carry. Wind would take your ball right out of play and if you tried to play the wind sometimes ball would break and other times nothing. Course in general not that impressive. I’m a 12 handicap and I thought it was a hard day out there because of the wind mostly. Overall course not in bad shape.
Very good course with lots of water
Very good cours design with above average water need lots of balls
Thank you for the 5-Star review!
Thank you for the 5-Star review! Please come back and see us again soon.
Good Course, Great Pace
Nice course with one of the better practice facilities in the area. Played on the Sunday of a long weekend and got around in 4 hours. Very good value and I recommend it.
Thank you William6749867 for the four star rating and review! We are pleased to hear you had a great holiday golf round. See you soon this season.
