The Savannahs Golf Course
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

First tee on a beautiful Florida winter's day on Merritt Island Photo submitted by sttcapt on 02/13/2017
The course was in good shape with the exception of #2 fairway which has been under repair for years. Greens were in great shape and balls ran true. They are letting a number of traps go back to natural grass which only quickens the pace of play but makes the course less challenging.
Overall we had a great time and will come back.
Thank you for the 4-Star review, we appreciate the great feedback regarding our course conditions, especially with the hot weather we have received. Thanks for coming out and we hope to see you again soon.
Plenty of water
Overall, enjoyed the course and looking forward to playing again soon. A few not so obvious water hazaards, but we will know better next time and be more strategic.
Thank you for the 4-Star review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your challenging round today. Thanks for coming out and we hope to see you again soon.
Thank you for the 4-Star review!
Lots of water
Plenty of water on this course especially on the front 9. A couple of holes had a strange layout eg #4. Holes aren’t well marked so spent some time on a couple of holes trying to find the next tee box. Somewhat challenging if you’re not familiar with the course layout.
We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. We are so glad that you enjoyed your challenging round today. Thanks for coming out and we hope to see you again soon.
Dusty's Take
If you like forced carry's over water and narrow fairways around water then this course is for you. Not a good course for someone having trouble hitting the ball. That said I had a great time the weather was perfect and the company was enjoyable. We were a mixed group of Golfnow users, a local couple, a pretty good golfer and this hack. The most annoying thing was the rough was too long for most golfers and the time spent looking for buried balls was extensive. and hitting out of the nasty grass slowed play considerably. Since I was the one in the slower group it wasn't a problem for me but we did let some groups play through. Losing balls just off of the fairway was very annoying.
Over all it was a nice course to play and the staff works hard to maintain it .
Thank you for the excellent 5-Star review! We are so glad that you enjoyed the course conditions and our great amenities Thanks for coming out and we hope to see you again soon.
Savanahs’s improved conditions

Good for the money
Nice layout and challenging. Could be in better shape
Fun course
Greens were a little slow but the wildlife was everywhere..fairways need some love but I'd go back
Savannahs
We always enjoy this course when there is a breeze! Starter was a cranky old man, but the rest of the staff was great!
Great for the money
Course conditions is average typical of Central Florida afternoon rains. Pace of play was good 8 AM tee iff and finished at 11:30 AM. Course is challenging narrow fairways lots of water and wildlife saw a few gators and a lot of turtles worth the money!
Course was Extremely wet. Overall the environment was not very welcoming. Sent off back 9 as a single. Waited for another single last 3 holes off back 9. Still a single at start of front 9. 3 Groups on 1st hole. Twosome and 2 singles.
I realize course has no control over weather, but course needs work.
Water-Gators-Golf
The Savannah's is a unique course that has a lot of water with some tight fairways and other open fairways and a lot of elevated greens to go with it. You might see some gators in the water on this course and lots of other wildlife. Great experience and will go back for sure.
Nice Course
Tee boxes to greens, everything was in great shape. Although there is lots of water in and around the course we lost a minimal amount of balls.
We agree with a previous reviewer that a couple of holes lack clear directional signage.
We will be back the next time we're down in the Space Coast area.
Hot, humid and rainy
Nice course. Pace of play was a little slow. So of the holes were not clearly marked and we took a couple of wrong turned.
Rain caught up to us on hole 15... had to quit.
Will play it again if we’re in the area. Little over priced.
Thanks for the 5-Star review!
