The Savannahs Golf Course
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

Trying hard
This county course is in a state of change to be kind. The county doesn’t want it, can’t get it off their books. Apparently they don’t understand the basics of running the course either
The greens are pretty decent really fairways aren’t bad. The staff is doing an outstanding job considering what the have to work with- and who they are working for. Priced a little high for the quality of product- still no bar/ restaurant 2yrs. After closing
Always a pleasure.
One of my favorite. I enjoy the setting, most of the holes are challenging, very nice day when I have the chance to play there.
Getting better
This course has improved significantly over the past year. It has always been a great test of golf, but the course fell on hard times. There has been a revival and my hat is off to the grounds crew. The fairways are significantly improved and the greens although bumpy, were green. The course has houses on some of the holes but most of the course is wooded. There is significant water but smart ball placement helps control he high scores. There are short par 4’s with risk and reward. The cart paths were a little busted up from old trees. Not a lot of amenities as the club house bar is under construction. Water driving range with nice chipping and putting greens. Typically not to busy and I played on Saturday at 11 in under 3 hours. Certainly worth a $25 hot deal. Can be had for $10 in the summer. Will play again.
Good time at the Savannahs
Course greening up .. green in good condition.
Lots of water to negotiate .. enjoyable day
Entertaining course
Pace of play was wonderful, under 4 hours. The course was in fair shape. Tee boxes need to be leveled, greens could be mowed lower. Overall we had a good time. Would play course again.
Savanah's Golf a value
The fairways are starting to get more green - they had previously been a little brown due to winter.
Greens are starting to grow and to be mowed.
I LIKE this course!
I try and play this course when I am visiting family in Cocoa Beach. I find it challenging with lots of water with an interesting layout. Staff is outstandingly friendly. I'm a single female and they take care of me in the same respectful way they do the men. The course has had some challenges due to weather and changes in management but is worth a visit. I think the prices are fair.
There is not a place to eat here, they do sell hot dogs, water, soda, and the pro shop is pretty bare.
Golfing at the Savannahs
Good course with several challenging holes , Good value for money, Staff friendly and helpful
fairways were poor
Other than some fairways looking like they got flooded leaving patches of bare dirt and even the grassy parts were extremely close cut, I liked the course and the price for hot deal.
Challenge
This course is a good challenge and tight.
It was in pretty good for the time of the year. Will definitely play again.
Fun course nice layout. Course is in great shape the staff has done an awesome job on the greens. Will play again for sure. Great value
Water everywhere
The front nine is all water, the back not so much. Water mostly on the sides, but not that many forced carries. The course was a little wet in places and some bare spots in the fairway. Very good pace of play that day, about three & half hours. Overall a good value at $28.00 hot deal.
Back-Breaking cart paths
Soggy conditions lately require 'cart path
only' rule for now.
This, however, is a sentence to much pain for those with a sore &/or aging back
(many of us) as the cart paths are so broken up & rough, even unusable in places. Drive carefully, & hope that some day repairs will be made, as little progress has been made here in years.
