Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Not worth the money
Greens are all sand, not a lot of grass anywhere, high grass just off the fairway, not super well maintained.. Not one to post a negative review but for $65 on a Monday morning not worth the money at all at this point. Hope they bring the greens back.
5hr round at 8am
No course should ever be a 5 hour round at 8am on a Saturday. 4.5 hours is pushing it but that’s what I expected. We teed off at 8:05am and finished up at 1:15pm. We kept up with the group in front of us and they kept up with the group in front of them. My group felt the problem was the rough. It is US Open weekend and last time I checked it was at Pinehurst, not Bear Creek Golf Club. The rough was 4-5 inches deep so any shot off the fairway and you absolutely couldn’t find your ball. What is the point of that for a public golf course? It was a pretty frustrating day to say the least.
Good course
Play pace slows down a lot on the “blind” hole. People forget to turn light on/off.
Bear Creek east
Other than the heat playing that course was fun and challenging.
Awful Pace - Beautiful Course
I hate to write bashing reviews, especially for one of my favorite courses. But I played the West Course for the first time after playing the East multiple times and my 9 holes took over 2.5 hours to complete. The group in front of us who I thought was the problem was playing each hole like molasses, but as we made the turn going to 10, we were surprised by a 3-4 group hold up in front of us waiting to tee off. I left after I saw this as there was no way we were going to finish before sundown. This is one of the only courses where I haven’t seen a Marshall enforcing pace of play and it shows, but the entire staff there is awesome. Course played tough with the rough being 4-5 inches thick in some places but the layout is fun. I’ll go back most likely just because it’s close to me, but I hope I’m not met with this issue again because I truly do love Bear Creek
Slow pace of play ruin the day
Great conditions. A bit too hot and humid. Paied up with another single and a two some..do us four...but course was crowded. Took almost four hours to play only 12 holes...never would of finished in time. Started 20 minutes off from ter time at 309 pm...and stopped as after 12 holes and it was 650 pm. Probably could have continued but it would have been 830 or sunset by the time we got to 18.
Well, the course was closed down because of flooding.
Waiting on golf now to return my money.. $300
Came out on a holiday to play rates for more expensive, got harass by three Marshall telling us to pick up the pace. I’m out there to relax and have a good time and one of my players that was in my foursome has cancer so I wasn’t pushing the game, but of course nobody really cares.!!!!
Convenient to airport
Lots of blind shots make it difficult unless you’re playing with someone who knows the course. It gets very hot in Texas. Low flying planes every few minutes can be a distraction. Course in decent shape. Food selection really limited.
Great experience
This was our first time to play BCW since the spring rains. The course was in great shape. No problem with pace of play. We cancelled our Arcis membership because it wasn’t worth it which will raise the cost of the rounds a little but we’ll still play occasionally. Very convenient for us.
Great Layout
First time playing here. If you like lots of dog-legs then the East Course is for you !
Course was in pretty good condition. Greens were a little bumpy due to the “po” Pace of play excellent. I was a single and the started paired me up with 2 other singles. We never waited and played an afternoon round in just over 3 hours. I will be back
