Waste of Time and Money
Look, I get that it has been rainy. I get that you need to do “cart path only.” I get that it might take a little longer to play. But 5.5 hours in conditions that required 2 temporary greens and one par 4 reduced to a par 3? No range balls because “we ran out?” For $115.00?!?! This is epitome of price gouging, especially since it wasn’t called out when I made the reservation. Cart guy was super friendly but pro shop has an arrogance that is certainly not justified. Do not play this course unless you have 6 hours to waste. Shame on you Crystal Springs. I won’t be back…
$115 at this track?
I’ve been playing this track off and on since 1983 and know exactly what it’s worth on its own merit and compared to other regional offerings. I’m also a firm believer in free enterprise, and if the market will pay their rates then god bless, have at it. That said, a $115 for Crystal Springs? That’s just plain laughable. It’s a mediocre, sometimes boring (16-18) other times awkward play. And the conditions are never great. The views and wildlife are gorgeous. Even post-COVID it’s a $75 course max.
Course doesn't drain well
I played this course on a Friday and it had rained the previous Wed. I expected it to be wet but the course was almost unplayable with a few greens so water soaked that there was no reason to putt, water filled bunkers, and some fairways that had large areas of just mud. The course should've been closed or at best, more discounted than what I paid to play. The pace of play of good but only because there weren't that many golfers playing. Just to be fair, I played this course this past summer and found it to be in better shape than I remembered. This course is close to my house but I don't play it because of two reasons, pace of play and value for money. However, I can play a few other courses a bit further from where I live for the same price or lower and have better conditions and not play a 5 hour round. Won't play this course again this winter and it won't be my first choice when the weather gets better either.
Golfnow wont post my review
SAVE YOUR MONEY. Golf now wont post my real review, place is a dump and swampland. 6 hour pace and they dont care about it. Joke of a course, do NOT play here unless they pay you to do so
Gorgeous reservoir views
Challenging course with 5 hilly holes. Greens are in great condition. Great panoramic views of Crystal Springs Reservoir on 6. Expect a 5 hour+ round on weekends.
$109, for Crystal Springs?
You know you’re living in a completely unhinged world when a course like this charging $109. Unbelievable.
Nice golf course with deers, turkeys and great view! However the club house and starting place needs improvements
We enjoyed course very much! We will come back.
The club house was impressive last time when we visited. Now it become crowded and uncomfortable small. Then I realize it might be moved from the larger building at right side to the a smaller one at left. The building at right is divided into rooms and offices, the restaurant behind is no longer there. It is a terrible change.
Greens in shape
Greens were true and consistent. No bad lies on the fairway. Heavily watered... some muck in places.
Seriously need to space people out more
This is a fun track with some challenging holes....alot of people who play here I find its above there ability and they spend time at every hole looking for balls without any thought to the group behind them and the others behind those groups and it can get backed up fairly fast.If they had a marshall who would enforce pace of play it would help but they don't do anything. So rounds here can be close to 6 hrs at times which becomes very frustrating waiting on every shot. But the course itself is fun and challenging......its just not for new players trying to learn or people who drink to much.
Hoping for better
This course has beautiful views and lots of wildlife. However, the pace of play / management around tee times and groups could use some improvement. We were waiting at almost every hole, which really slowed down the game substantially. Putting greens are pretty all over the place, some extremely uneven and bumpy. The rest of the course is fine. Wanted to love it, but getting slowed down so much (and I'm about a bogey golfer) really made it a lot less enjoyable.
Running 20 min late is normal?
That's what the starter said to me..."for a Sunday". Note this is a pet peeve of mine.
This course is notorious for being a 5 hour+ round regardless of the day of week though the weekends can stretch out even further. That's why I rarely play it even though it's 15 min from my house. Bad on the golfers too who can't understand the concept of keeping up with the group ahead of you and with a price that tends to weed out those who are too new to the game to get that drilled into them - but I never saw a marshal on the course either. The course conditions were surprisingly better than I remember but the greens were very slow - but perhaps due to the above avg temps we had this weekend. The conditions sort of made up for the 5 hour round but still won't be coming to this course again any time soon. Will drive the 30 min to a course that, even on the weekends, is a 4 - 4.5 hour round.
