About
Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

One of the best public golf courses in SoCal.
I played Rio Hondo Golf Course for the first time. The course lay out was as good as you can expect from a public course. The fairway and the greens were well maintained. The flow of play was bit slow but definitely within average pace. Driving range, putting green, and the club house was all well maintained. Overall good value for the price.
Really???
No definition between fairways and rough. A little water would go along way. Please tell the public that your greens are aerated instead of having to find out when you get there. Good Friday a holiday? Back to back par 3s should have a marshall waving groups up. The Marshall actually drove by my group and said "I can't understand why there's a backup here" Really??? Best part of the day.. getting my green fee back after 7 torturous holes. Thanks Mike.

Pace…pace…pace…
Fun track. No Marshals. Averaged 3 groups on every hole from hole 5-18. Apparently this is normal now. So if you have 5.5 - 6 hours to spare go for it. Otherwise avoid it.

Where is the marshal?
I played this course on a Friday. The course conditions were fair to good. Greens were in great shape. The pace of play could be better. 9 holes in 3 hours is an awful pace and could be improved if there was just a marshal present to speed up play.

This course is a great place to enjoy 18 holes of golf. Highly recommend if your looking for a challenging but not too hard course
