Rio Hondo Golf Club
About
Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Rio Honda
Great course layout, management and players assistants need to get on same page, horrible pace of play after 4.holes, landscaping is well kept, solid fairways, nice greens, need to more presence after starting round, otherwise it's a great value and we'll maintained track.
Expexct 5+ hr round…
Course layout and the condition is good/fair but 9 times out of 10 times i play here, it takes avg 5 hours 30mins…
You’re gonna have to wait 5min every single shot…
Pace of play is one of the slowest in many courses around LA.
Great round of golf!
Played yesterday. Course was in good shape. Pace of play was a little slow but not bad. Always a good time. I hit my first hole in one on #14 par 3 160 yards. Best feeling I've had in a while.
Nice folks/Good conditions
My only gripe about this place is the layout is they have two PAR-5’s back to back, followed by two PAR-3’s and the pace of play backs up. Other than that, it’s a pretty nice spot.
Average Course Not Nice Pace
We got to the course 15min early, but allowed to start 15min later. We waited at each hole for at least 10 mins. We end up only playing 9 holes because the game was not enjoyable any more which such pace. Either the course has to space it out better or there has be a marshal that monitor the pace. There is no GPS on the Cart as well. Regular people pay $90 to play at a Gold Club and the Cart does not have GPS. green is not well kept inconsistency on the green makes the game less fun.
Goff time
The staff was very accommodating, we had two foursomes of seniors. The course was in great shape even though it gets played often. The pace was average, we caught up to the group in front only at the 3.pars. Over all we had a great time. We will be back again.
Good tee time, weak body!
As I've said before, It's a well kept track and tight layout. The more you play it, the the better you choose your next target. But if you miss it, the hole will make you pay.
Nice course
Overall nice course. Greens were a little bumpy, but a good overall nice experience.
Nice Day
Joined 3 fellows for some golf on a nice summer afternoon. We all had fun, but the course won (at least in my case).
Not as good as the last time
I played Rio Hondo last year and the course conditions have dramatically declined since then. It's sad because the layout is amazing. Lots of muddy spots and banged up greens.
3 hours 15 minutes for 9 holes
The course just plays really slow. When we would drive to the par 3s there were at times 2 groups waiting. They have no marshal to regulate pace of play and because of this the following happened.
Our tee time was for 4:04 but we didn’t end up teeing off til 4:20. No marshal to guide the groups.
- the group in front of us had 3 golf carts. 2 girls only paid spectator fees but were actually playing. They were delaying their group because now it added 5 people to their group. The girls didn’t play well so that’s that. A marshal would have caught this.
- the group behind us kept hitting their ball onto us. They thought we were playing slow but we weren’t the ones holding anyone up. We played ready golf, gummies so we wouldn’t waist time putting, and quickly dropped a ball if we couldn’t immediately find our ball. A marshal would have seen this and perhaps talked to the group behind us.
The course is very green, challenging, and fun. Beautiful course but I don’t know why there were a lot of water puddles not marked with the small pink flags. First time here I did expect better course management.
