The Country Club at Soboba Springs
About
Soboba Springs Golf Course was founded in 2004 when the Luiseno Indians purchased the property. It had long been a dream of the tribal leaders to own this golf course, which borders their reservation. The tribe's leaders hired Cary Bickler, a disciple of the course's original designer, Desmond Muirhead, to update the layout and pave the way for it to once again be one of southern California's premier golfing destinations. The renovation included the addition of 25 new bunkers, a lengthening of the back tees and shortening of the forward tees by almost 1,000 yards to make it more approachable for the less experienced player. The Augusta-white sand that fills Soboba Springs' bunkers provides a stunning contrast to the lush greens. Water also comes into play throughout the golf course in the form of meandering streams and cascading waterfalls.

Course in Great shape, even with all the rain. Greens are awesome.
Some disappointment.
This course was in good condition with generally decent fairways (some bare spots), with quick but receptive greens. However it is very difficult for the average bread and butter golfer with several water hazards and bunkers. The bunkers have new sand and very well kept, but the semi rough is too thick and far too difficult for the average golfer to deal with.
With the blue tees at 6000 yds and the black tees at 6500, there needs to be a combo option on the card to play at 6250 for the middle handicapper.
I was disappointed with the recent renovations except for the 13th hole which was obviously redesigned to enhance the view from the new hotel and casino. While this is a cute par 4, surrounded by lakes, waterfalls and bridges, it resembles the old 14th hole. The new 14 is the same as the old # 15, and the new 15th and 16th holes offer nothing exciting and are made really
difficult by unfairly placed sand traps.
While I left somewhat disappointed this is still a fine golf course and worth the trip from Palm Springs about 45 minutes away as long as you bring your ‘A’ game with you.
Great Course
Beautiful weather but the greens were perfect and fast. Some spots in the fairway were muddy but fairly well kept considering the rain a day before.
Beautiful layout
The course is laid out beautifully with mountains to the east, lots of water holes on the front side and lots of greens protected by white sand on the back side. Their signature hole in front of the casino is gorgeous. The overall maintenance of the fairways and rough was just average — unsure if fairways were being replanted but lots of areas in pretty rough shape. The food in the restaurant was excellent,
Poor conditions
From check in to course conditions to pace of play, this one is a fail. If you’re looking for good golf avoid this course. So much debris on the fairway your ball disappears.
This course needs wirk
A very big problem with birds. Droppings everywhere you walked, especially at the remodeled holes 12-15. Teed off at 11:00am and did not finish by dusk. We saw a Marshall in his cart at the first hole only. Sad.
Beautiful Course
Course conditions were excellent for this time of the year; fairways were freshly cut and the greens were smooth and fast.
Many holes have either water or staggered fairways bunkers to negotiate off the tee. Fortunately, there are several tees to choose from based on ability.
The greens on the new holes (12 through 16) are firmer and have a little more break than the mature holes.
The course is well worth the drive.
Great Course
Pleasant course . It’s long and well bunkered. Greens are in great condition. Beautiful course.
Suggestions
Better than ever w/rebuilt back nine; fantastic layout and course condition; somewhat negated by slow pace of play Management needs to employ at least one marshal to monitor and control place of play!!!
Great Course to Play
The worst thing about this course is the drive getting there. Once you're there however, you'll find it to be a worthwhile course to play. It's challenging but fair, with the right amount of tree and water trouble. The rough can get hairy in some areas, so try to keep it straight. Try to hit to the middle or to the back of greens because I find that a lot of balls spin back there and roll off the green. Also, you can always head over to the Casino when you're done playing if you like that sort of thing.
Golf Torture
I'm not sure what it is about Soboba but for some reason everyone thinks they should be playing from the tips. The pace of play was so slow that we waited an average of 10 minutes on every tee box. Finding a ball in the rough was nearly impossible. We need off at 12:01 PM and had to leave the course on the 14th hole. That was when a young man came and pulled all the flaggs. Perhaps if they had a Marshal to assist the pace of play, the experience may have been better. If you don't have 6 or 7 hours to hang out then skip Soboba.
Great Course, Great Staff!
Staff always friendly and professional, best in the area. The course is in great shape and is a lot of fun to play. The rough is more challenging than it looks, real sand in the bunkers, and the greens roll true. The only downside is that, unless you bring a range finder, it's going to be a challenge getting accurate yardage readings.
Worth every penny!!
This place has some awesome holes and the renovations are top notch would definitely play again and pay full price!! Staff was great and I loved the conditions of the course!
Great Course!
Really like this course. It’s in great shape except they are dealing with some fungus on some greens. I asked and they are going to re-seed the complete course and greens this fall. I played with my wife and we both loved the difficulty, layout, environment and beauty of this course. We both highly recommend this course!!
good value
greens were very bumpy and had some dead spots. sand traps were too fluffy and hard to get out of (but they sure looked pretty)
But for $20 (golfnow hot deal) it was a great value!!
Same old Soboba
The course has a fair layout. The new designed holes are ok. They advertise an island green that does not exist in the sense of what all golfers think is an island green like sawgrass or pga west stadium, paiute wolf etc. It is not what would even resemble an island green. Totally misleading advertisement. The new holes are a nice design however.
The front nine is without change. Still boring and marginally maintained.
Dont be fooled about this course. The back nine is good. The front nine need to be redesigned if they want people to want to play there. Big beautiful casino and hotel being built along side 13 and 14.
The good intentions to make this course did not payoff. People will be expecting an island green, book a stay and play and be gravely disappointed.
I suggest the make it an actual island green and change the green being in an acre of land and make it a target hole. Build it and they will come.
Will not return. Fool me once but never twice.
Sand traps were "too fluffy"??? "Fluffy" sand traps are ideal. It is the hard dirt traps that are tough to get out of.
