Go Play LPGA! Photo submitted by oakleyduff on 06/26/2013
Great course
Great course in great shape. Friendly staff. If only we could have played a bit better!
Pleasant surprise
I played the hills course. Bring your A game. The course really punishes you for missing your target. Greens are tiny and you have to hit them. But fun and challenging
Pace
From Tee to Green, the course is in great shape. One minor piece of feedback would be there needs to be better management on pace of play.
the greens are sweeeet
Hills course is, i believe, the best test of real golf outside of Orlando. It's a must play, and is in fabulous shape right now. Greens are small, fast and perfect. Arthur Hills gives you a great visual with many small tests for both long and especially, short game shots . Old school, classic golf, hope you don't play it, i don't like the crowds.
Played 10/10/21
Fairways excellent, ball sits up. Tees good. Greens small and guarded, medium fast, a little crusty but OK. Traps washed out from recent rain. Nice varied layout. Some tough forced carries for short hitters. Course was empty, Symetra tournament was on the other course across street.
Challenging course
Everything was in great shape and the greens were fast and true. Hope to play there again soon.
Great course until rain
Great course! First time playing it. Made it to the 15th. Hole before being rained out. Everything great teebox, greens and fairways especially.
LPGA Hills Course
Beautiful track. Challenging greens. Narrow fairways requiring accurate tee shots. Really enjoyed the course.
The condition of the course was not as good as in the past.
I found the course in need of maintenance. I have played there before and had much better conditions. Some bunkers were in need of sand, and there were several burned out areas of greens.
Great course, some staff rude
Great layout with multiple practice areas.
Course was not crowded at all either time we played.
Conditions were excellent. Green were firm and fast. Rough is thick Bermuda, easy to lose a ball if you’re not hitting straight.
Only real downside is the attitude of some staff. Bag drop guys were friendly and helpful, but the niceness ended there. Pro shop and restaurant staff either ignored you or acted like you were an inconvenience.
Slow play but go play
Terrific layout with with a great practice area. The heavy morning rain made the course play soft and long. There was some standing water in the bunkers but there was plenty of sand. The greens are in good condition and roll fast and true. The rough is think, but fair. If you land in the rough it will usually cost you at least 1/2 a shot. The only negative is the pace of play. I have played the hills course multiple times and it’s always a 5 hour round. I believe it’s because players use the wrong set of tees , struggle with the small greens and spend a lot of time looking for their ball in the rough. If you can hit it straight and have a good short game, the Hills course is a great challenge. If you can’t - spend some time at the LPGA practice facility and have a sandwich and drink in the restaurant- both are 5 stars.
Great Course Great Value
Great Arthur Hills layout, in good shape, quick greens. The course really makes you think…
Great Value - efficient staff.
Staggered Scramble?
I preface all of this by saying I love LPGA.
I'll be back, but this was ridiculous.
Teed off early Sunday... like to get off early and get around quickly.
First 13 holes 1:40. Last 5 holes 1:40.
They let a bunch of groups start on the back nine that were baaaaaaaad golfers. Not sure what this was about but it gummed up the works for sure. I was told it was a staggered scramble. If so, they didn't know what a scramble was. They should have just all started on one with real tee times like everyone else. Never seen anything like it before.
Course is beautiful and ***very*** challenging. Great staff. Probably see you next Sunday. :-)
Excellent course!
Playing golf course roulette is always fun on vacation...this one was a winner. Wide fairways, great greens and enjoyable experience! Course was wet from rain so played longer than expected. A few birdies and pars out there. Traps were wet and unplayable but who doesn’t love a free drop on vacation. We played the Hills but looking forward to playing Jones before I head home. Highly recommend!
