Bonaventure Country Club - West Course

The pace of play was super slow. They don’t pair people together which created a very slow rate of play. There was two in front of us and a twosome behind us. They had a fivesome in front of the two in front of us that was holding everyone up. The greens were average, Fairways were good; however, there was a lot of soft ground that posed problem for golfers that press the ball. It was black soft dirt that the leading edge of the club just sank in. Tee boxes were very poorly maintained for a coarse of this caliber. No rakes by the traps, and there are a lot of traps. I would play it again with a hot deal, but I wouldn’t pay their regular green fee.

Really fun course with signature holes and great layout, pace of play, amazing staff, and driving range.

The only issue we had was the super thick rough. Making it SUPER hard to find any balls just off the fairway.

Greens rolled very well, some greens are better than others, but they do roll pretty well.

All around great course, and the staff is fantastic.

The greens got out of control and were pretty bad last summer. They are a lot better now. The only bad degree was 17. Looks like a lot of changes to the course and they’re trying to make it better for season.

Incredibly tough and fun layout. So much potential. Greens are mostly playable but obviously not flush. Tee boxes in rough shape. Fairways below average. The rough difficulty is not by design so very punishing. I play this course when I really want to play and my preferred courses aren’t available.

I played when it was wet, but I have played this course dozens of times over the years. The course goes through its ups and downs, they seem to be on an up now.

Tee Boxes were very good, greens, bunkers were also good. Fairways were ok but wet conditions didn’t let me determine fully.

Will wait for it to dry out for next time. But praying they keep improving as the layout has always been good and it is close to home.

There was a 9ish tee time for a group of 12-16 players. They had no regard for pace of play and did not have regards for any one but themselves. Ranger did the best they could, nevertheless can’t babysit everyone. After we paid we were told cart only. I’d rather know ahead of time then I can make a decision. Poor drainage, but still managed to do 5 hours for 18 holes. Bank to the pace issue. No way am I’m saying rush, no way! But have courtesy for others. Six practice swings and 5 min looking for a ball is absurd. Nevertheless, I’d go back on a weekday and dry conditions.

With how wet the course was due to heavy rain in the days prior, probably should have given the option of a rain check. Was cert path only, fairways were drenched and standing water everywhere. The range was closed because they had t retrieved any range balls from the previous day. Most of the course had issues due to standing water and heavily saturated greens. Probably need to not play this course again until it dries out. Was not a great round of golf.

Don't waste your money if your trying to finish in 4 hours. I have played here about 4 times and each time my tee time did not start for about 15 minutes. The course was backed up from the first tee box. They allowed a 2some in between 2 foursomes, so really poor course management. Then when we complained to the ranger they didn't say or do anything...

Booked Bonaventure with a Customer and spent a great time , nice staff

Course was well kept although almost every bunker needs some attention. They are hard packed like concrete. The rate of play was not great at all. Group ahead of us was hitting 100 yards at a time and not trying to watch their pace at all. Ranger said something to them but what should have taken at most 3 hours for our twosome to finish took almost five hours.
