Bonaventure Golf Club (formerly known as Bonaventure Country Club) is a classic Florida layout with holes routed through strands of mature palms and hardwoods, and around numerous water hazards and expansive bunkers. This course, designed by Joe Lee, is also called the Green Monster. Some people call it the Cascade Course because of the waterfall on the picturesque 160-yard, par-3 third. This signature hole has a waterfall that stretches across the front of the green.

This course was in horrendous shape. The greens were slow, full of weeds, and lots of sand. No sand to repair divots and the pace of play was painfully slow. Needless to say, I will not be coming back here.

So long Bonaventure

I have played this course several times over the years. I have watched a once great course slowly decline to one that is no longer worth playing. Tee boxes and greens are in terrible shape. Green colored sand is used to cover it up. The course needs water and attention badly. But it looks as though management is content to let it go down. Sad. Look elsewhere.

Herrendous

Got to course and was told one hour wait due to golf carts needing to be charged. Asked to hit balls and was told no balls because they did not have staff to get the balls out of the water.

I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course as I had heard they were having money issues. The course was in good shape and has a really challenging and fun design. They obviously don't have enough golf car4ts as we had to wait for players to leave the course before we got ours, which delayed us a bit.
