close to this! Photo submitted by GolfClubofIndiana on 03/21/2014
The only negative was the carts didn’t have GPS and we hand no layout of the course other than the small map on the back of the score card. Outside of that it was a great course.
One of the better courses
This is a great course! First time playing is a challenge on the blind holes. Fortunately we paired with a veteran which helped on hidden hazards tee locations. It is long and challenging and more so in the dry conditions where slopes would allow marginal shots to find rough.. Take extra balls if you drive somewhat errantly. Greens were in good condition, true and fast.
An
Truly enjoyable course.
Eagle Marsh
The course was in terrible condition, it was not watered and very brown.
The course should have advise you of this so you could have advised potential buyers.
This course GPS system was not working
The GPS system was not working and there was no yardage markers of any kind to take its place, not even 150 yard markers
On the par fours and fives. How hard would it be to have these installed at a very small cost.
In need of repair
greens were great! Course was really dry and fairways were terrible.
Dry
Drought conditions for a few months. Course needs water badly. Still an enjoyable round.
GOLFNOW NEEDS TO KNOW IF TOURNEMENT IS SHEDULED!
This is the second time in tow months I have shown up at a course having a Tournament and the course management not having any control. This time it was a Member Guest and it was a MESS!!! Our TEE Time was delayed 1HR. We had to tee off on the back nine.
When we arrived at the 16th hole they were having a 10 team Member Guest playoff on 16,17 and 18! Oh that's right the starter forgot he had sent us and three other groups out on the back! Their suggestion was wait and play behind the playoff. We skipped to number one after a half hour wait only to be backed up again because of all the confusion when we arrived at number 4. We did not finish the round. Not sure what pull Golf Now has, but as a courtesy the courses should not permit times to be sold when Tournaments are scheduled. Wish I had my $ and Golf Now $10 credit back. What a waste of a beautiful golf day!!!
No Marshals on Course
Almost a repeat of another time we played their, except then we skipped ahead a couple of holes to get around slow players.
This time averaged 2 to 4 min waiting on tee box and 1 to 3 min waiting on fairways. 4 1/2 hr + round.
Ranch
Drive over an hour to play the course and was very disappointed in the course condition. Course is in its third owner. I will never go back.
Great Track
Fazio course with a combination of strategically placed hazards (sand, water and "jungles") to challenge your game. Well laid out, although the greens have become somewhat "crusty". We'll be back.
New Ownership Again Maybe?
Sadly, Eagle Marsh is starting to revert back to the bad old days of ownership. The tee boxes (in many cases) are devoid of grass, the bunkers are starting to get overrun with grass, there are weeds surrounding the greens, etc. For a while, a lot of money was put into Eagle Marsh and was a joy to play. I am hopeful that if new ownership does indeed happen (again!) then all this bad juju will be a thing of the past.
It can be a great course again - it truly can. It's a Fazio design and it can give you all that you can handle and more. Let's just hope it soon becomes what it should be. I'd have to advise most folks to stay away until that happens, however.
<fingers crossed for improvements>
Dried up.
To call the roundish flat areas “greens” is a major stretch of the imagination. It’s pretty much impossible to make any iron shot stay on the green, and putting is a joke. Hint: hit your approach shot short on purpose and putt up onto the green, the only way you can play it. Fairways aren’t much better, but at least the ball rolls forever. Another hint: hit low screamers and watch them roll.
Cart GPS did not work on both carts
Course conditions were greatly depressed since the last time I played this course about 5 years ago. Fairways and tee boxes were dried out and no sign of water. The worst part was our cart gps didn't work and the other cart only showed hole layouts. So after you hit your tee shot you had no idea how far you were away from the hole, no visible signs, just a few ground markers you had to hunt for.
Slow play and half dead greens
See tile. 5 and half hour round. Greens are half dead so very bumpy. Wait til summer to play.
Find an alternative
While the course has potential, it is simply not in good condition. If I had to plan my trip again, I would exclude this course. Greens were in rough shape.
Slick greens
The course needs a serious dose of fertilizer. Greens are very, very fast and putt true. Bring along a few extra balls, under brush very thick and nearly. Wait staff in pub area helpful and friendly.
The course was dry
Found course very dry and no evidence they were watering course. Greens were brown and fast and probably best part of course. Like most Florida courses this was tight
