TERRIBLE
Great design and layout. But the conditions were terrible. The worst conditioned golf course I've played in Florida in the three years I've wintered here.
Bring your Game
Eagle Marsh is essentially a links course. You attempt to land the ball on patches of earth surrounded by marsh. Most Tee shots from the Blue /Black tees are visually intimidating because the landing areas are concealed and appear to be tiny. Playing the White tees on your first time will make it much easier. Most any shot off the fairway is lost as the contour of the course will redirect errant shots out of play or into hazards. I did not bring my game and was penalized pretty severely. A two club wind amplified my flaws. However, I think having been around it once, I could return a better score next time. Winter course conditions were about average, thin turf on fairways and greens. Greens were kind of soft, which was a blessing. Many areas of the course were wet. Waste bunkers were muddy. Sand traps were in decent shape. I would not recommend this course because I do not know many players good enough to enjoy this kind of challenge. If you are up for a challenge, bring your game and a dozen extra balls.
As we were checking in the phone rang. The cashier picked and said, " Oh Hi Annie! Yes, he's here. She picked up the intercom and said, "Phone call for Harold Smith" The bar immediately began to cackle and heckle the guy. The bar tender picks up the phone and says, "Hi Annie, he's right here!" Man gets on the phone and says he will be home soon. Very funny.
Golf Guy
Needs much care. The conditioning has been neglected. They charge enough so money should not be the issue. The shame to all this is that the layout is good but the care is not.
Used to be a great layout
Fairways and green conditions below average. Bunkers submerged. 3-4 inches of rain the day before, cart path only. Even tough, almost impossible to stop the ball on the patch.
Nice design.
This course could be the gem of Martin County. The course was very wet despite it being 87 degrees the day I played. The fairways need a lot of work as do the bunkers. The greens were good and moderately fast. A fair price for this course would be no more than $40.00
Marshy start to finish
We are supposed in the "dry" season here in Florida. You wouldn't know it playing Eagle Marsh. It hasn't rained here in a number of days, yet the course is soaked. It evidently will not drain. Lift, clean & place was the order of the day. When I did find a dry area, there wasn't what I call grass, it was green hardpan.
We were playing up to speed. There wasn't anyone behind us pushing us. The ranger drove up & told us he was just reamed out by the pro for not speeding up play. He took it out on us. He later came back & gave a weak apology, but the damage had been done. I don't pay good money to get yelled at by anyone, least of all when I'm innocent.
Nice wide open course
Went there with an experienced and two junior golfers and we had a great time. Golfed early in the day and found the course to be living up to its name; marsh=wet soft conditions in fairways but greens were hard and fast - good value if you have a discount or coupon but overpriced compared to similar courses in the area
Good course to "play it forward"
Good challenging course that work well for our group because we "played it forward" to the white tees. The back tees were too demanding since it was our first time there.
Plenty of hazards but fair. Greens were a little thin but they held well.
We will go back.
Nice Layout!
It was a little wet in places but, considering all the recent rain, not too bad. Choose your tee box wisely! Almost every tee shot from the Blue or Gold is over the jungle.
Food cart gal drove back to the clubhouse and brought us hot dogs on the 11th hole.
Very challenging course...they sell used balls 10 for $4. You'll need em.
Almost too wet
Challenging and extremely wet, almost too wet to play.
A Muddy Swamp
The staff were friendly and efficient, however, I was hoping for a nice golf course. This was not the case.I should have been tipped off to the fact that the second word was "marsh".
A little wet but overall a nice track
Nice track. First time playing it but will definitely do it again. Course was pretty wet but that probably was from the rain that we had earlier in the week. Narrow tee shots but very fair. Did donate a couple of balls to the golf gods of the marsh.
Play when dry
This is a very good course requiring good course management. However, do not play if it has rained recently as the course does not drain well.
great difficult layout from the back tees
Beautiful layout, course in okay shape
Very challenging from the back tees
HO-HUM Course
Paired up with another twosome. Had lot's of fun and didn't have to wait too much due to the pace of play. Sand bunkers were not very well maintained. Overall, the course was OK for the cost, but nothing to brag about.
Slow play
Try not to follow members playing competitive matches.
Very, very slow.
When the members playing matches were on the 11th hole, we were in the fairway and THREE more foresomes waiting on the Tee. Unbelievably slow.
We hi-tailed it from the 11th fairway to the 16th Tee to get ahead of slow players. Never again!
Bring extra balls
Seriously, bring extra balls. An errant shot is a lost ball. You only go looking if you are hoping to find somebody else's given up on shot that ended up in the general vicinity of where yours went.
If you can keep it in play, man oh man what a beautiful day of golf in store. Great use of water. This course is like playing in the middle of a state park, when you are not nestled in the housing developments.
And plenty of tee options to fit your game, and I should say where your game is on that day.
This course is not walking friendly.
nice layout, poor conditioning
this course had a fun and challenging layout. But course conditions were poor, with alot of damaged and dead areas.
Lots of marsh, no eagles
This course really floods after a heavy rain so I would only recommend it when the weather is super dry. I would like to play again when it is not such a mud pile. The layout is nice and the people were very nice.
