Cypress Lakes Country Club
About
Cypress Lakes Country Club is the centerpiece of the Ormond community, a neighborhood of more than 500 homes. Blending seamlessly into the surrounding cypress trees, the golf course is both challenging and scenic. You'll have to navigate your way around 17 different ponds that come into play throughout the course. With several forced carries over wetlands, it will feel like there is water at every turn. There are also 40 strategically placed bunkers bordering the greens and fairways. It's a layout that will test your accuracy and ability to strategize. Multiple sets of tees keep scratch golfers happy while beginners can also approach the course with confidence. In addition to the golf course, Cypress Lakes has a practice facility featuring a 400-yard driving range with multiple targets and putting and chipping greens.

Fun for Country Club Golf.
Overall the course is nice, but short and simple. This would be a great place for practice. Its not a championship style course. Greens are slow but role nice. It has a feel for a family style country club. There is no pro shop to speak of, so if you need certain golf supplies you need to stop a DICK's Sporting Goods or someone else. If you have family visiting from out of town this would be a quick fix.
Forced to play with other players with no one in sight on course.
I play just about every week on Golf Now courses and this was the first time I have ever been forced to play with another Golf Now player. I could understand if the course was crowded, like on a Saturday morning. But this was noon on a Tuesday. There was no one else around. Played 18 holes and saw maybe three other groups.
Greens were not in the best shape. A lot of bare areas. Sand bunkers are rough around edges with over grown grass. Nice tight course with houses along fairways. Water on all but one hole and usually hidden from view on the tee box. Good selection of long and short holes. Hit it straight or bring plenty of balls.
Fair Test
I've played this course several times over the years, with mixed emotions. I have never been overly disappointed nor overjoyed with the course, but I will say that this round left me with a better than normal thought of the place. Maybe because I played it better than normal! It's a country club type course - homes around it in a nice neighborhood. The course only tips out at 6556 so it's not a long course and at 71.9/126, it's not a terribly difficult course. Local knowledge will go a LONG way here though, and it starts on the first hole. If you don't know there is water right in front of the green, even though it looks like a run-up approach from the right is OK (it's not), you'll be doomed. There are a few places like that, where hazards jump up that you can't see from the tee. Overall, the layout is nice. When I played the greens were slower than they should have been, so putting was a chore. On the front the signature hole is the 7th, which is an interesting par 5. A 513 yard dogleg right, the tee shot is a forced carry over a lake and you have to decide how much you're willing to bite off. If your target is the tree or bunker next to it, note that the fairway is actually BEHIND those landmarks, and it is relatively narrow there. That said, that's a good target line if you are a medium length driver. Safe play is to the left of those landmarks, where a 220-240 yard shot puts you safely in play, but you'll be laying up. Aggressive play is to try and play to the right of the tree - that's going to require about 260-275 yards worth of drive. Short puts you in the rough and hampers your chances of going for the green in 2. The green is smallish, protected in front again by a small arm of that same lake. The back has a couple of interesting holes. The par 4 11th has water crossing the hole in front of the green. The hole runs away from you and toward the water at an odd angle so be careful and take enough club. Water fronts the green at the long par 5 13th hole - make a note of it. The 18th is a great closing hole - good risk reward. Not a long hole at 399, you have to carry water to the fairway. The bunker could be your target line - landing short of it is perfect. To the right of it is aggressive but can be rewarded with a short iron in. Too far right could land you in the water which runs and expands (unseen from the tee) towards a tree which would be the far right edge of your target area. Choose wisely.... Practice area is minimal and subpar. The overall of the facility and course is better than average, but not leaps and bounds better. However if someone says lets head out and play it, you should go. Relative to other courses in the area at that price point ($42 Tues-Fri; $52 Sat & Sun, closed Mondays), it's as good as or better than those courses. It's a little ways from Downtown New Orleans though... If there is a draw, it's the closest semi-private course to the airport, only about 15 minutes from Louis Armstrong International.
Belle Terre Country Club
Well maintained course. Greens in good condition, rolled very well. Lots of water to navigate.
Big Bang for your buck !
The course is immaculate, fantastic shape. You really should try to play this course if your in town. I am from Tennessee and believe me this is a nice course.
Fun course
This course has some short par fours that the average golfer can score on as well as some tougher holes for the expert. Fun course to play.
Really Good Experience
I had a good time playing Cypress Lakes Country Club in Destrehan, LA. The greens were a little hairy, but what greens aren't in southern Louisiana. Also, a few of the greens were very sandy as well. Other than that, the course is well taken care of.
Poor
The greens were poor, no grass on them. Same for the fairways. I thought they got enough rain here to keep a course like this somewhat flush with grass on the fairways and greens. Won't go back
Tough course
Beautiful layout with water on 17 of 18 holes. If you're not playing the round with someone familiar with the course, bring extra balls. Water comes in to play many times without being able to see it.
Nice course
Lots of Water. Sand traps were compacted. Would play again.
Nice course
We had a great time great weather conditions course in good shape
This couse was a nice challenge
Enjoyed playing for the first time. Couse was in good shape. Had water on 17/18 holes, nice challenge to place away from danger.
Had a great day
This is the old Ormond Plantation Course. I was playing with someone who just started playing two months ago. This course has many holes that require shot planning and course management and was a good experience for my friend. The rough was a little tall which made finding a missed shot difficult, but the greens were in good shape a consistent. I booked a 12:20 Saturday tee time online so fees were $32/player. The course wasn't busy considering the awesome weather so we were able to take our time and and only had one group play through.
Friendly staff, course in good condition
Beautiful cypress trees sometimes in fairways. Nice greens. Good mix of holes. Some blind shots with water not visable from tee boxes. Friendly staff. Looking forward to playing again.
Very nice course
This course is very nice for an amateur golfer! A little dry but greens were perfect!
Danny Sassone
Course was very wet due to recent, but for the amount of rain the fairways and greens were in great conditions!
Enjoyed this course
This course was in good shape. I very much enjoyed the layout and was treated very well by the staff. We happened to play with a very nice man who lives on the course and is one of the major investers. He filled us in on the future plans for the course. Looks like a bright future. I would highly recommend playing this course.
Nice course
The greens were a little bumpy and slow but the course was in overall good shape. Much improved from a month ago. Should be nice all summer
Over priced
Course in good shape, new carts however the strap on my cart broke causing my bag to fall off the cart, broke the head clean off my driver. I talked to the manager, he said he would replace the club, but that has yet to be seen. Overall a decent, challenging course
