Timberlane Golf & Recreation

About
When Timberlane Golf & Recreation opened in 1959 as Timerlane Country Club, it was the first private golf club on the west bank of the Mississippi. The oaks planted at that time have beautifully matured, adding to both the scenery and difficulty of the golf course. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course, crafting a challenging test that has been ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in the country. You'll have to contend with 80 strategically placed sand bunkers and 17 different water hazards. While the course is not overly punishing, you'll have to be prepared to have every aspect of your game tested. Before tackling Timberlane''s golf course you may find it helpful to warm up using the club's all-grass driving range and you can use the large putting green to practice with putting, chipping, and sand play.

Greens going down
Greens are on their way to being totally destroyed. Don’t know if it’s a fungus or some type of disease. They have sprinklers so drought not affecting it. They’re going fast
Ok course.
Fairways were in good shape. A few greens were in rough shape. Could not fund rakes near sand traps. Like course design.
Hope you don't need anything to drink
We were forced to return our ice chest (water and Body Armor only) into the truck, which is not problem IF THERE WOULD BE A HYDRATION CART SELLING WATER TO GOLFERS WHILE THE TEMPERATURE IS 90++ DEGREES. We had a player that had to sit in the cart under the trees for a few holes due to illness, heat exhaustion. Good thing there was a faucet by the outhouse. We normally eat at the venue after playing, but we chose to take our business elsewhere.
In good shape
The course is good shape. Greens are nice with only a few bad spots. This is worth your time to play, especially if you get a "Teeoff " price.
Good day
Every thing was good no problems course in good shape only problem is every time I play timber lane the greens look great but when you putt the ball stops you have to really hit it or your gonna be short I don’t think they roll them enough and they are just fuzzy enough to make putting hard they look great but they are a lot slower than other courses I play
Hidden Gem
Surprisingly impressive. Really enjoyed my round at Timberlane not knowing what to expect. Tee boxes well groomed, traps manicured and most greens in great shape. Will play again.
Two different courses
Timberlane is ok, just wish the landscaping group spent as much on the back nine maintenance as they do on the front. Also, it's HOT in Southern Louisiana in the summer; nothing more disappointing than coming upon a water cooler after 4-5 holes and finding it empty with no cups at noon on a weekend. If you're paying $60-$70 per person for a weekend round, that should be enough to have someone keep the water coolers full.
Staff was very friendly and professional.
Course fairways weren’t in the best of shape because of many dead spots from previous divots not being filled in.
Best Course on the West Bank
I played Lakewood the week before, and Timberlane’s condition was 5 times better! The greens and fairways were exceptional. The staff was very friendly and the grounds crew were hard at work making the course look even better! The clothing options in the golf shop were impressive (Bogey Bros & Swannies). My only gripe was the condition of the bunkers, but that wasn’t anyone’s fault due to the amount of rain that came on Monday and Tuesday. Highly recommend this course!
