Timberlane Golf & Recreation
About
When Timberlane Golf & Recreation opened in 1959 as Timerlane Country Club, it was the first private golf club on the west bank of the Mississippi. The oaks planted at that time have beautifully matured, adding to both the scenery and difficulty of the golf course. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course, crafting a challenging test that has been ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in the country. You'll have to contend with 80 strategically placed sand bunkers and 17 different water hazards. While the course is not overly punishing, you'll have to be prepared to have every aspect of your game tested. Before tackling Timberlane''s golf course you may find it helpful to warm up using the club's all-grass driving range and you can use the large putting green to practice with putting, chipping, and sand play.

Trees everywhere!
Had a tough day with the driver which made for some interesting recovery shots. The course is in good shape. The pace of play was a little slow and no Marshall on the course to help.

Friendly staff and great food in restaurant.
Overall had a great time.
Will be back soon.
Nice course. Got a last minute tee time 8am. Pairs up with a stranger and ran the course lightening fast. (May have gotten backed up later in the morning). Overall great condition with some good challenges for new golfers.
Face Passed
My husband and I absolutely love this course however, the pace of play was very fast and we were the pass-through by three groups and a fourth one quickly came up behind us. We’re not the best golfers, but generally play is not that fast behind me. other than that, the greens were pretty perfect and the driving range was awesome.
1+ Hr Wait for Golf Carts
Ended up having to wait over an hour because no carts were available. When I checked in, the lady in the pro shop said it would be maybe 15-20 mins. There were 2 groups already waiting, so that seemed pretty reasonable. But the early morning groups were really slow to finish and free up the carts. Not sure if this is a typical occurrence on weekend mornings, but I'm not going back to find out anytime soon. I believe the staff were doing the best that they could, but I would be weary of booking a tee time between 10 am and noon on the weekends. Overall course conditions were pretty average.
The course continues to get better.
Staff was great. Course had a few issues on the greens but other than that it was a great day of golf.
Great course and better customer service
I played on Friday, March 27th and the experience was phenomenal. The course is in the best condition I have seen in a few years. The fairways rival those of TPC, Grand Ridge and English Turn. What seperates Timberlane from the others has to be the customer service. Abby is always refreshing to see during the week and the young lady behind the desk on weekends is simply amazing. These two are a big part of why we come. I wish other courses on the westbank would take pride in their course like Timberlane does!
Slightly overpriced
Booked online to play Timberlane. Staff was very helpful and friendly. When we went off there was a group of 5 ahead of us. We were told they play there often and play fast. Our group is not the most consistent group but we have fun. We had to wait on the group in front of us on almost every hole and that was looking for our ball on many occasions. Course was in ok condition. Most greens had dead spots on them. Hopefully green and fairways will get better as weather improves.
Definitely will be going again
Beautiful course, friendly and helpful staff. Food was great and staff inside restaurant was really nice.
Over booked with US kids tournament
Pace of play was bad an could not get a refung ad was booked through golf now
Greens going down
Greens are on their way to being totally destroyed. Don’t know if it’s a fungus or some type of disease. They have sprinklers so drought not affecting it. They’re going fast
Ok course.
Fairways were in good shape. A few greens were in rough shape. Could not fund rakes near sand traps. Like course design.
Hope you don't need anything to drink
We were forced to return our ice chest (water and Body Armor only) into the truck, which is not problem IF THERE WOULD BE A HYDRATION CART SELLING WATER TO GOLFERS WHILE THE TEMPERATURE IS 90++ DEGREES. We had a player that had to sit in the cart under the trees for a few holes due to illness, heat exhaustion. Good thing there was a faucet by the outhouse. We normally eat at the venue after playing, but we chose to take our business elsewhere.
In good shape
The course is good shape. Greens are nice with only a few bad spots. This is worth your time to play, especially if you get a "Teeoff " price.
