Nestled among 12-million-year-old boulders in the scenic desert foothills near Scottsdale, Arizona, Boulders Golf Club & Resort is one of the country's most prestigious resort destinations. The North golf course at Boulders plays big brother to the South Course, and offers bentgrass and marvelous views of the Black Mountain, as the course winds through the community of Boulders. Both golf courses spring from the desert foothills and feature take-your-breath-away panoramic vistas -- among those of spectacular formations of boulders, stunning Sonora sunsets and indigenous terrain.

nice outing

would help to have a marshal on the course

moving the groups along.

we had to stop our round at 13 holes because the group in front of us was so slow in a very hot day.

after passing them we noticed there wasn’t another group in front for three holes.

Hot & Slow

I expected the Hot day with a 11:50 am tee time in Arizona, but the pace was ridiculously slow. It took 4.30 minutes to finish 18. Need a Marshall or someone driving around every once in a while to move groups along. It is a beautiful course and the views are outstanding. Be ready for some target golf in the desert.

no notice given

I've played the Boulders before and always considered it a fine course. Sadly this last time was really bad. No notice was given to golfers that two thirds of all of the tee boxes were under construction and temporary tee boxes were set up, some almost 100 yards forward on holes. The course should be shut down for something this extensive or at least let golfers know prior to paying and driving all the way there. I was unable to use my driver more than a couple of times. I would appreciate a free follow up round if anyone from Boulders management reads these reviews.

Great But No Tee Boxes

This course is in wonderful condition except for the tee boxes. The fact that all of the tee boxes, except for par 3 holes, were under construction and unavailable. Other than that, the course is unique and beautiful. I will play it again.

Forward tees on every hole ruined the experience

Even after receiving a discount for summer, having forward tees on every hole (other than par-3’s), was a major disappointment. Hitting irons off each tee, on uneven temporary tee boxes, made it feel more like an executive course. Scored well but would rather have been tested from the tips as I hoped to be.

Minus the tee box repairs

Great course for the summertime pricing. Tee boxes will be nice in Fall I’m sure.

Over priced but beautiful

I’ve been wanting to play Boulders for two years now. I finally got a tee time for $104 only to find out all of the tee boxes wereunder construction except for the par 3”s and the temporary tees were so far forward, it too away from the prestige and challenge of a beautiful course. There was no mention of this on the website or through golf now. Had I’d known this was the case, I would’ve gone somewhere else. Now that I have played it, I think anyone that plays it during the winter for $200 plus a round would be wasting their money.

From the best to the worst

Used to be bent grass greens.. now tiff eagle hybrid. .. booh u have the money and the elevation to do it, u charge the prices for it. Water stations were 1980s drinking fountains, same ones I drank out of as a kid in elementary school. Not that this is bad but for north Scottsdale it is laughable. All temp tees no warning. Hit off mats when the range was perfect. I think Bermuda grows in the heat, u sure here.. place went fro the penthouse to the doghouse in under 5 years. Don’t come play here.

Temp tee boxes no warning

Place has taken a turn for the worse. Water stations have no ice, no bottled water, 80% of the tee boxes were ahead of the reds with no warning when booking. I can honestly say I his place has turned to trash.

Disaster

Half of the tee boxes were shut down so we had to play from the red tees on 9 holes. This was NOT made clear to me and we paid $95 a person. Total baloney.

Not worth your time right now

No email or notification that all tee boxes are under repair and they set most temp tee markers ahead of what would be the red tees. Started us on 10 for no reason, so a par 3 out of the gate. Booked the north course but was put on the south course. They dont allow any smoking so Cigars were out of question. Was more like playing an executive course than what we signed up for. Played two courses in Scottsdale the days prior that were in good shape with none of this mess. Also, the auto grat all purchases from the bev cart at 19%. Wasn’t told that until I asked. Just all around not worth it. Seems a bit of a rip off right now and no notification in advance or from the clubhouse when paying. Dont waste your time right now.

Tee box

Most of the tee box’s and getting upgraded, however when I booked on line the was no mention of this. This changed the course from 6400 yards down to maybe 4800?

Kinda a mess.

Nice course bad experience

I booked this course because my wife is a beginning golfer and she wanted to play a nice course. However, we got out onto the range and hit some balls and got ready for our round. Upon getting to the starter, he notified us that 70% of the tea boxes were under construction and temporary tea boxes were set up in place of them. This was not a very good experience for my wife. Some of the elevated tea boxes that I’ve always admired were under construction and not in use. If somebody would’ve informed me that the tea boxes were under construction. I would’ve scheduled another time for my wife and I to come out. Very disappointing.

20 plus years in the making!!!

I first read about this resort over 20 years ago in Golf magazine, and said to myself if I ever went to the desert Southwest, I wanted to play this course. My wife and I at the resort for a week had a great time. I played the course during that time. Yes, they were some dry spots and they’re reworking some of the tee boxes but the scenery was spectacular and overall the experience was exceptional. Practice area was is great shape!!

I will NOT another 20 years to come back….lol
