SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 7,002 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Beautiful hole! Photo submitted by danthomson on 09/25/2012
Really good! Challenging, but fun to play.
We had a very enjoyable round. Staff was very friendly and helpful, course was in good shape. Has some really good holes and very scenic. Might get frustrating if you can't keep ball in play as there are some blind shots, lots of bunkers, and ample desert, but well-designed for good player. Read your hole descriptions. Greens were fun to putt and receptive to well hit shot. Wicked Six were a great finishing stretch. 18th is a bear!!!
Very nice course for the money
Great course--somewhat difficult but great mountain views
Hidden Gem
My wife and I have played a lot of the big name courses in Scottsdale. We found some reviews and ratings from a local source and decided to play Sunridge. What a pleasant surprise! the course was challenging enough to make it very interesting but playable for high handicap players too. The fairways and greens were in amazing shape. The desert hazards were not all that bad and the wash and rough areas could be played out of on most holes. This course probably has the most interesting layout we've played. It really is cut into the canyons of the desert and the scenery is amazing.
Good golf course
This is a very good golf course. It has a good layout and there are some risk/reward holes. The only issues we had were the lack of enough yardage markers, and for some reason most of the greens were topdressed with sand.((No one informed us of this!) Unfortunately, this made them roll like the munis back home. Other than that one of the better courses I have ever played. Local knowledge is a must. There are certainly places on this course you do not want to be. Many times from the tee box it is not what it appears to be. The last 6 holes, known as the wicked 6 are really good, hard holes. I would highly recommend this course. Next time I am in the Phoenix area, I will most definitely return.
Great Course great views
Great course with great service from the staff. Very interesting hole layout. I can see why the last holes are call the "Wicked Six".
Great course, great service.
This course was great value. Although it is a bit east of town, it is worth the drive to play. It is in very good shape and very challenging. Wicked 6 is as advertised.
This course is in a beautiful setting with lots of scenic views. The course seems to fit perfectly within the foothills and really is a nice layout.
I really enjoyed the course and the scenery that it provides being in the foothills of a mountain range and canyon. It definitely requires precise shot selection to narrow fairways, but overall, I found the course to be somewhat forgiving with shots that were slightly off the fairway. Lady golfers who hit straight and play from the red tees would enjoy this course as all the holes that are challenging for men are made relatively moderate to easy for women. Still, a nice course with a great layout.
Playable for all skill levels
We played on Tuesday February 12, 2013. Course condition was great. Greens were not great - but still good (only choices above for course condition were "requires attention" "maintained" and "pristine" - course was much better than "maintained" but not quite "pristine"). I am a 8 handicap and my buddy is a 20. I played from the blacks and he played from the golds. The course was extremely playable for both of us. Staff was very friendly. Beautiful views. Great outdoor bar area to have a drink after the round. Would play again in a heartbeat.
Great course, nice layout for target golf, layups and risk/reward shots.
Nice challenging course for the above average player. Not recommended for those players with 18 hdcp or highr unless you plan on bringing 2 dozn golf balls.
WOW!
What a nice track and the wicked six was pretty cool and tough. 17 and 18 could be the toughest 2 finishing holes i have played and the 19 hole was great to sit back and have a beverage.
Picturesque canyon course, not too hard for the average golfer.
This was my first time playing SunRidge Canyon. Except for the rainy weather, my experience was an excellent one. Since I was playing as a single golfer, I was concerned with not knowing where the hazards were located. The course provided a course map showing hazards and yardages, which made my experience even better.
I hope to return to this course on a warmer and sunny day!
Fantastic fun course
Great course in great condition and a very fun course to play. a most for people looking for a true desert course
Long, Challenging, great layout, well worth a visit.
Played off the tips, a very tough layout with a premium on accuracy and length off the tee. Par 3's are probably the best set I have ever played. Fairways were in good shape and greens rolled very well. Staff very nice and friendly. will be back for sure but unless your bombing it off the tee avoid the black tees.
Good golf course. Very challenging.
Really enjoyed the day. Good ranger. Made sure the pace of play was being kept.
Great Views, Great condition, Excellent Service.
The Wicked Six was great, very challenging. Pin Placements combined with the back nine hole lengths made for a difficult round of golf. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenge.
Like course
First time played course in winter. Enjoyed playing the course but not the same condition as playing in may and june
Course condition was excellent. Overseeding on fairways only, but a nice effect from the tee blocks.
Lovely views, elevation changes, and nice carries over water and 'washes'. Every hole was unique with varying club selection off the tees. Due to a cold snap, the course was empty. We were able to walk the course, but there are some lengthy walks from green to tee.
Winter condition but every hole interesting, fabulous views.
I played this course while visiting in May 2012 and found the beauty, greens, hole architecture and views wonderful. This I played January 1st and of course greens were running 8 and not 11 but still a fun difficult track. Bring your range finder and check every distance before you hit. There is no forgiveness in this mountainside desert course!
Challenging and Beautiful!
Excellent course conditions, greens were rolling true and probably
around 10. Fairways are forgiving but not gimme's. The views are wonderful and the course is challenging enough to keep you focused. This is one of my top 20 courses in Arizona.
A Must Play
If your looking for a challenging course with great views a nice little breeze and a fantastic staff, then you must play Sunridge Canyon. The last six holes are called the wicked six and are great finishing holes. Go play.
