SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 7,002 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.

The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.

After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Great layout,. Very good course conditions, the yardage book is your guide.

The course was in good shape. Fairways were cut short and firm, but lush. The greens were rolling true and quick, but not too fast for a recreational round.

Enjoyed the layout. We knew this was a desert style design so we were prepared for the challenge of picking the right club and putting our ball in the best position to score. Tip - use the yardage book it was a big help. Even though it's a desert layout (some shots are target golf), it was fair and fun. Liked going down and then back up the desert canyon, great change of scenery for us Nor Cal forest golfers.

Awesome views!

Awesome views and the layout was great. Very challanging at times. The 18th hole was overly difficult, not a good finishing hole. Otherwise a great course, one that I will play every time I am in Phoenix.

The greens were a pleasure to putt on!

Fairways and greens were perfect, but a lot of unforeseen trouble if you haven't play here before. Front nine you need to use a club less and back nine a club more. Views were OK and course layout was nothing special. Bring a lot of extra balls!

Poor condition and course design.

I play 4-5 times weekly in the valley, and this is one of the worst conditioned courses year after year. Tee boxes, fairways, greens all require severe attention. The course design on a lot of holes are over the top difficult and I am a 6 handicap and played it from the regular tees. I play it every couple years just for some variety , and have never had fun here yet. Avoid this course .

This course was beautiful to play. The service was noticibly attentive.

The back nine is more challenging- thus slower play. The staff worked hard to keep us within the 4.5 hour round with slower groups in front. Kept coming to our group and asked for our patience. It was nice to hear and the flow was good- didn't have to wait each shot. Beautiful course - had slow greens and need sand in the traps.

Very interesting course, fun to play. Great scenery too.

Fabulous design. Difficult in all areas but not impossible. Very good greens. Club selection a challenge because many holes downhill on the first nine with the back a real climb up the canyon.
Very good . Would love to try it again!

19th hole the best ever!

Played this course early March with three of my buddies and played very difficult. Great layout, but not a bombers course, makes you think at the tee what club to hit which is fun. Customer service the best I've ever experienced and I've been playing golf for 25 years having played the likes of Torrey Pines, La Costa, PGA West Stadium, and the Phoenician. The bag boys were literally reaching in the truck to grab our clubs before we got out of the car!

Top notch place from start to finish and the 19th hole is tremendous with an outdoor bar with some of the best views of the valley and mountains.

The yardages aren’t marked very well on the course, but this will improve according to the staff.

Please go play, you won’t be disappointed.

Always a great experience. Tough, but fair and a good value relative to all other options in the area.

This course is always a great experience. It's a tough course, but fair and I think the value is very good, especially as it relates to other options in the metro area. I play here at least once every trip.

Good course but, overpriced

Good challenging course with much of back nine uphill. In good but, not great condition. Seemed overpriced to me.

Will have to play again to figure out if all the issues were just bad luck that day.

Two-some in front of us was tied to the Golf School and at first did not seem to care how long they took to play a hole. We soon were caught up to more groups in front of us and slowed the round down to un-acceptable.

Party was going at the Clubhouse when we came to 18. It was like a Frat House party and very disturbing playing out 18 right next to this loud activity.

Really good! Challenging, but fun to play.

We had a very enjoyable round. Staff was very friendly and helpful, course was in good shape. Has some really good holes and very scenic. Might get frustrating if you can't keep ball in play as there are some blind shots, lots of bunkers, and ample desert, but well-designed for good player. Read your hole descriptions. Greens were fun to putt and receptive to well hit shot. Wicked Six were a great finishing stretch. 18th is a bear!!!

Hidden Gem

My wife and I have played a lot of the big name courses in Scottsdale. We found some reviews and ratings from a local source and decided to play Sunridge. What a pleasant surprise! the course was challenging enough to make it very interesting but playable for high handicap players too. The fairways and greens were in amazing shape. The desert hazards were not all that bad and the wash and rough areas could be played out of on most holes. This course probably has the most interesting layout we've played. It really is cut into the canyons of the desert and the scenery is amazing.

Good golf course

This is a very good golf course. It has a good layout and there are some risk/reward holes. The only issues we had were the lack of enough yardage markers, and for some reason most of the greens were topdressed with sand.((No one informed us of this!) Unfortunately, this made them roll like the munis back home. Other than that one of the better courses I have ever played. Local knowledge is a must. There are certainly places on this course you do not want to be. Many times from the tee box it is not what it appears to be. The last 6 holes, known as the wicked 6 are really good, hard holes. I would highly recommend this course. Next time I am in the Phoenix area, I will most definitely return.

Great course, great service.

This course was great value. Although it is a bit east of town, it is worth the drive to play. It is in very good shape and very challenging. Wicked 6 is as advertised.

This course is in a beautiful setting with lots of scenic views. The course seems to fit perfectly within the foothills and really is a nice layout.

I really enjoyed the course and the scenery that it provides being in the foothills of a mountain range and canyon. It definitely requires precise shot selection to narrow fairways, but overall, I found the course to be somewhat forgiving with shots that were slightly off the fairway. Lady golfers who hit straight and play from the red tees would enjoy this course as all the holes that are challenging for men are made relatively moderate to easy for women. Still, a nice course with a great layout.
