Golden Hills Golf Club

Course was in terrible condition. Everything was dead. No grass on fairways, greens were terrible.

Course layout was good and greens were challenging with pin placement. Course was a little rough due to thatching and scalping as they were preparing to overseed. Some of the tee boxes were dirt due to the renovation process. I will definitely go back once the winter rye grass is established and tee boxes and greens are in better shape.

Course is in the worst condition I have witnessed in 50 years.

If a review is over 2 stars, AGR probably left it themselves or paid someone to leave the review. The maintenance crew cuts dead grass and blows dirt off of dirt just to say they are doing something. This course will destroy your clubs. Worst course in the valley by far.

This place is where dust storms are born.

I have lived in the valley for 20+ yrs and this course USED to be a good option. Greens in terrible shape, no grass in several parts of fairways, practice range is a joke, range balls not cleaned and so worn they don't have any dimples. I went in the clubhouse to pay and saw 16 shirts for sale...and that's it! In the entire clubhouse, they had 16 shirts and NOTHING else for sale. I seriously thought they were going out of business. I will NEVER play this course again. Really too bad as I mentioned, it USED to be a nice place to play.

At the end of the round a staff member stated that the course apparently hadn't been watered in over a month due to a non-functioning water pump. What little grass was present was so short and dry it was like hitting off dirt. There was plenty of dirt as well, even in the fairway. The whole facility just looks tired. I would not play this course again, even when they get their water issue resolved.

Very disappointed as I paid $35 per players then checked in and found out AZ Golf Resort dropped their costs per player to $15 because of how poor the course was. I asked for a refund and they told me to call golf now to figure it out.

Course is beyond dormant. They should just close it during the summer if they are not going to water it and try to maintain it in playing conditions.

Teed off on the back 9 and played unbothered in 1.75 hours, caught up to the chaos and played the front in 2.5 hours.

$8 Hotdog.

Barren Fairways, 80/20 dirt to grass, honestly feels like your playing on a small town ranch track, not the hidden gem it was 10 years ago.

Bunkers were either perfect, loose and groomed or they were pictures out a western movie.

Tee boxes look like they have not been watered the entire summer.

Bumpy, hard, and beat up greens; obviously they do not have control over golfers but each green on the front 9 seemed to have a divot from an actual shot on it.

Unless they do something NOW this course will be on the shut down to repair schedule because it will be too far gone to allow golfers to play and make revenue with the condition its in.

Honestly this is just becoming a normal sight out here on this side of town. Superstition, kokopelli, and now AGR make my DO NOT PLAY list.

Fairways and Tees were hardpan dirt.

Nice course with some good holes, but currently in terrible shape. Almost no green grass anywhere. Lots of dirt in the fairways, bumpy greens. Needs a ton of TLC

Tight ish course and short. Great for planning your shots accordingly. Not just a driver kinda course. Think I pulled it out 1 time.

Greens are good fairways dirt to bad it’s a nice layout. Not keeping it up. Will not return till improved the fairways.

I don’t think they’ve watered the place since the spring. Personally I wouldn’t pay over $10 to play here unless you enjoy hitting off dirt in the middle of the fairway.

Very friendly staff, went out the day after the recent storm and course was pretty open. We got this round for like $9.99 so you can’t beat the value, but course does need some work. They said they had some pumps go out for water and you can for sure tell. It’s a course where you just need to lift and place it in the nearest grass or you will be hitting out of dirt in middle of fairway.
