Desert Sands Golf Course

Very good condition for early season, green fairways, greens were a little slow but very good: I think they did a good job interplanting the winter rygrass!

Very slow rate of play, waited at every tee box which we didn’t mind, but then the Marshall accused us of causing it and said we made people leave the course. Marshall then admitted to us he didn’t know what was going on and just listening to the front office. Horrible way to spend a day off, save your money and go somewhere else.

I hadn't played this par 65 course in East Mesa for several years due to bad experiences and terrible conditions in the past.

I decided to give it another try based on recent referrals and I'm glad I did.

If you have a partner that is fairly new at golf or isn't an expert at the sport, this course has a very nice mix of par 3s, par 4s and even one par 5 so the guys can let er rip!

The course had just been overseeded, so it was cart path only, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how much the course conditions and turf had improved since my last experience here.

The greens, though slow, were very smooth and well tended. The fairways were almost lush!

A small complaint about the tee boxes, as several are sloped and it can be hard to find a level lie to tee off from.

The layout is a bit of a labyrinth, having to cross over the busy Sossoman Road on two occasions, but once you play it once or twice it becomes a lot simpler.

The facilities and clubhouse are spartan, but, if you just want a decent 18 hole round in decent conditions at a bargain price, I would highly recommend Desert Sands.

Overall satisfied but golf rangers are rude and angry.

Only 2nd time playing course & had a much better experience then my first. Will continue to play! Keep it in the short grass!

It was fair for the dollar. My wife and I enjoyed it for the price. People were nice and the over seeding was soft to play off. Cart paths only did not hold us up for tee time spread. All good for a shorter course.

This was my first golf course in the Phoenix area, and I chose it for its price. Good value for sure. The course is on the short side with only 1 par 5 hole. The course is in good condition overall, but I found the greens slow, and could be cut closer to improve ball roll. Course winds its way through a community so you have residences on both sides of the fairways for many of the holes. Not a problem if you hit straight, but could be a problem for slicers. Generally most holes are straight, with no dog legs and no elevation change. I found having to keep the carts on the path a bit of a pain if you didn't keep the ball close to the cart path, which did slow down the pace of play somewhat. The staff were very nice and friendly.

On a beautiful October day, the course was in very good condition as the new grass was still growing in.

Just about what you would expect from October. course was in pretty good shape and was what we wanted. (Level and player friendly since we were cart path only)

Toward the end of grass change over. Course was cart path only but play was still enjoyable. Played other times and it is a good course.

You hit in fairway off the tee. But then you have to find a patch of grass to hit of off

Don't believe some of these reviews on here that say staff are friendly probably written by management. Course is boring and in bad shape Marshall is a a hole along with the rest of the staff they are not friendly or helpful price is good and that's the only reason we have played here all summer I would not recommend this course unless you are a tight budget and have no other options.we have had enough of being talked down to so we will not return

the green were absolutely horrible. long grass everywhere and just not very well kept. no bunkers also is kinda odd. whole course in neighborhood and not that fun. decent value for money tho.

Terrible. The guy who checked me in was a total a-hole. Here’s an idea: if you’re going to work in a customer facing position, why not be friendly to people? On top of that, he sent a twosome out on foot at my tee time ahead of me (I was in a cart). Greens were a joke. I never leave bad feedback but this place deserves it. There are too many great options within 3 or 4 miles to waste a minute of your life here.

We were paired with a couple of great guys! The round was a hoot! Only bad part was how I hit the ball! 😜

The course was in awful condition. I've played Desert Sands before at this time of year and I know they are getting ready for overseeding, but I feel it was unconscionable to charge money for playing the course. All the grass was burnt and the greens were like putting on concrete. There were many areas where the grass was just missing and your ball would land on bare earth. Yet, there were many other players in attendance. I quit after 6 holes and will never return.
