About
Located in Mesa, Desert Sand Golf Course is an executive length course with a short layout that is most suitable for beginners, but it is also a good place for golfers of all skill levels to work on their short game skills. Due to its flat terrain, the course is easy to walk with few elevation changes. The greens are remarkably fast and water hazards come into play on five holes. There are also sand bunkers scattered throughout the course. The Desert Sand Golf Course facility offers a chipping area and putting green and it is also home to a golf school.

Better course than it played
I was looking for tee times for Monday morning and they had a good deal at Desert sands, so I booked a round for myself and a friend. The weather was great, the staff I encountered were good too. The course is shorter than most I normally pay but that was ok and understood before I booked the round. The trouble came when we played the course. While it was over seeded and cut on the tee boxes, the grass on the fairways and greens were way too long. Had they given it time and finished preparing the course for winter play or done the front nine first or back nine so the course was ready I would have given the course a higher rating. I didn't care for the fact that you also had to cross Ellsworth road in a golf cart for playing part of the back nine. It'll probably be ready next week and should be fine to play then but not having played here before, I'm not sure I'd play it again.

Getting better after overseeding
Another week and greens should be great. Also fairways should be cut shorter. With overseeding, course is solid.

Good course recently reopened after over seeding. Cart path only forced me to do more walking, which I need.
I play here frequently. Older golfer started at age 74.

Thick greens!
Played with a nice father and son, had a great time! They over seeded, so the greens were pretty long. Full backswing to get the ball to the hole. Lol

Good Bang for the Buck
I've played this course frequently. I don't play often and this is the type of course you go to to "relearn" the game. Conditions were great! They have taken great care of the fairways and greens.

Bad all around
I've played here before, it's not great but cheap but it's awful. Slow, all dirt and sand. Manager was a jerk

Absolutely Terrible
Would not recommend. Only 8 holes were open with no warning. The hole that were open were complete dirt throughout the entire fairway. I won’t come back even in the spring.

Skinned! Don't look for grass anytime soon.
This course is always mowed tight, but there was barely any grass on fairways or greens. One of the residents yelled from her patio "Didn't they tell you that the back 9 was closed? Surprise, surprise! We played the front 9 twice so that wasn't a problem, but it will be a while before you see any grass on this course.

No flags on back nine. I assume the back nine was closed but no one said anything. So j quit after 12 holes.

For the price let’s go
For the price it was a no brainer to try out the course. However you get what you pay for. Staff were excellent and amenities were fine. But the course was dry dead grass and dirt piles in the middle of the fairways with lots of weeds. I lost 2 balls after hitting into the middle of the fairway because they disappeared into the weeds and we couldn’t find them.

There were a lot of areas that were not well maintained. I understand that this is the off season, so somewhat understandable.
