The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Rudeness

The staff was beyond rude about pace of play, we had no one behind us waiting and the staff STILL stopped us multiple times to tell us to hurry up for ZERO reason. What a shame to have such poor staff on such a nice course. Will never be going back to this place

Overall, I would say that my experience was positive. I thought the course layout and conditions were were good and the course was challenging, but fair at the same time.

Austin of England

A course that you need to know to appreciate. A lot of blind shots, often to greens where you need to study the course guide to give yourself a sporting chance of hitting them and staying on them. A great challenge but I’m here for a some fun, not an Open qualifier! Suspect you will either love or hate this course. We were first out next 4 ball 40 mins behind us!

Awful

Have played hundreds of courses over my 45 years of playing golf and this was the worst course ever. Stupid design and poor quality conditions. Stay away.

Nice Day

Fairways and green in good shape. Sandtraps and tees not so good. Course is a little short on back nice but holes well done. Overall enjoyed the course and green fees are very reasonable.

Railroad ties it must be Pete Dye

We were scared when we went to the range, it looked like a war zone, gnarly grass and lots of wasteland. When we got to the 1st tee we were pleasantly surprised. Elevated firm greens, bump and run or high lofted shots required. Pace of play was slow, just under 5 hours but it was a Saturday still a ranger or two to move things along would have helped. Restaurant food was good and the scenic views a plus.

Poor value for money

Not worth the money. Although the greens and fairways are in good condition (greens tricky but roll true) the rest of the course is in horrible shape both visually and physically. The rough beside the fairway …non existant and more like tufts of grass with hard pan in between.

Broken down building equipment on the most beautiful par 3 on the course ruining any chance for a photo of the lake with red mountain in the background.

Driving range perhaps the ugliest I’ve seen in the area.

Do not listen to the starter when telling you the course plays longer than the yardage indicates. It doesn’t.

All that said, drive it in the fairway and, as usual, life is good.

Slow, Slow, Slow

I have always enjoyed this course and still do, but the time it took to play really distracted from the enjoyment of the round. We understood there was some type of club tournament going on ahead of us, but that should not be an excuse for a 5 hour round. Very disappointed.

Golf at Red Mountain Ranch

This course is fun. The greens are extremely firm and challenging, and a few are quite small. Areas around the greens are generally decent, but the traps are hard packed and have little sand base in some areas. Cart paths are quite rough in places, and some of the playing surfaces have been worn through with heavy cart traffic. Overall, a nicely laid out course, but in need of some major maintenance to bring it up to standards. Many tee boxes are not even close to level. Enjoyed the day, though at a greens fee of about $110 per person.
