The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Fun but not perfect

Staff friendly for sure. Course is fun but has some goofy holes. Greens need a couple weeks to fill in.

Poor conditions

Expected better conditions for a “signature” Pete Dye course. Fairways, as well as a handful of greens, had far too many areas that should have been marked as ground under repair. This is a difficult, hilly golf course that demands precise shots; however, on this day, even the most precise shots were often rewarded with extremely patchy, virtually unplayable lies. Yes, it is early summer and conditions are expected to be marginal, but not marking off areas as GUR feels negligent as there were often grassy areas adjacent to the poor areas. Definitely will not be returning.

Fun summer golf!

This was my first time here and will be back for sure! Loved the course set up, staff, and range. We played first thing in the morning and hardly saw anyone else during our round. Only downside was they had just punched the fairways and have been having some pump issues, so fairways had some spots that were pretty bare. The green speeds were a bit inconsistent, but totally playable. Thank you for an enjoyable morning!

Awesome experience

Course is in great shape, the greens have been punch so your putts won’t roll as well as you’d like. On a hot deal through golf now price was perfect so no complaints and shout out to the pro shop. I arrived late asking if it’d be okay to still head out. Pro shop was chill about it no problem and made it for an enjoyable round. Course has cold water containers throughout the course to help with the summer heat pretty cool as that’s not something every course offers during summer golf.

Beautiful but sketchy conditions

This is such a beautiful layout!

It has great elevation changes,

spectacular vistas, and very difficult

traps. Should make for a very challenging

and enjoyable round, but the condition of

the fairways and greens makes it

disappointing. The price made it look

great until we started playing.

I wonder how the members feel.

Love this course

Although it was very hot, we had a lot of fun playing this course. The greens were sanded so not too good for putting and the traps were very hard but still had fun. Pretty challenging course over all.

Only front 9 was open. Greens had just been aerated & sanded. Sand traps was like playing off hard pan. All sand traps need to be done. Green fees were only $17 so it was worth the money. Course layout was average. Good value for the money.

Front 9 closed but good value

The back 9 was in fair shape - lots of dirt in the fairways so I moved ball to green areas. Greens OK. Bunkers OK. Pete Dye layout tough.

Nice course, but no spin on greens

First time playing here and i shot a 92. The course is very tricky, but the biggest issue is that the greens had NO spin whatsoever. Other than that great course and friendly staff. Backdrop views were amazing!

Nice CC Course

My review only addresses the course itself since I did not visit the restaurant or other facilities. The course is very well maintained and in good condition. It has several challenging holes, but for the most part, it is pretty straightforward. Since it is a membership country club, the twosome ahead of me (members) were very slow. They played through on the fist hole saying they were members and therefore had priority. I enjoyed the course and would bo back given the opportunity.
