The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Red Mountain Golf Club

I might play again, because of price, but here is why I would not recommend.

1. The course was very dry, tee boxes, fairways, and greens were very brown.

2. Missing starter and staff were not very visible.

Those were the big items that stood out during my last round at Red Mountain.

Drying out rapidly

Super dry. Brown spots on greens. Sand mostly crusted over. Going into summer but earlier than expected for these conditions

This course is all about the approach!

The greens are well protected and take a thoughtful approach to get on and avoid the sand and hills that hard so many of them.

But the greens are fair and the speed is good and the roll is true.

A beautiful course with a good challenge that is well worth playing. Not the longest but definitely fun. Give it a try!

THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME SHOOT AN 89 FOR THE FIRST TIME!

This in my opinion is the most under appreciated course in PHX! It beats Las Sendas, Quintero, Troon North, The Boulders, and Kierland :)

Firstly it’s a Pete Dye design so every hole is memorable and makes me physically emotional when witnessing the thought and care behind each hole. Most importantly, this course makes you play golf that you can’t be on autopilot for . The moment your attention starts to slip … Pete Dye will punish you with a large number on the card.

But what truly sets this place apart is the staff that goes above and beyond. After breaking 90 for the first time with a score of 89, I wanted to celebrate by purchasing a bag tag to always remind me to persevere when things get tough. They didn’t have any bag tags for sale however one was later found and gifted to me. It was a class move that made me wish I had the money to become a permanent member here!

As a golf community we need to ensure this course never fades away like the ASU Karsten - Pete Dye course! RMRCC is a gem that I could only compare to the feeling of going on a first date with a crush.

Blind challenge

Nice target golf course but very challenging. Pete Dye designed course is very sloped and relatively tight. Accuracy is key, but also course knowledge and there are a number of blind shots to greens. If looking for a challenge and don't mind some unexpected penalties for seemingly good shots, it is worth a visit.

Great course

Course was in good shape greens roll true although not terribly fast. Use the yardage book you’ll need it if you haven’t played here before. Starter and Marshall did a great job. Pace was good @ 2:05 on the front and 2:20 on the back. I will be back when I’m back in town.
