The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Oh boy!

Be ready for this one. A great Pete dye design, small dolly greens, don’t be above the hole and have your short game dialed.

The back nine have lots of blind shots so use the book they give you, it helps a bunch.

I’d love to play it when it’s lush. A bit harder for high handicaps.

The staff was awesome, very nice and accommodating, and they liked to talk a bit of hockey as well:)

Tough Greens

Have played this course several times and enjoy it every time. Playing this time was a bit more challenging because they had rolled the greens with what looked like a sand, fertilizer and grass mix and they were lightning quick. Almost PGA quick. And most of their greens are not flat but have a rolling, undulated surface that made them very difficult to play. Balls were rolling off the green or down into swails on the green that changed an approach shot within 10' to a putt of 30-40'.

Red Mountain Ranch Country Clib.

After a half hr frost delay pace of play was extremely slow taking 5 hrs to,play. Staff was friendly and attentive. Greens were sanded and as a result were somewhat slow and bumpy. Couse I slayed out well and was just an ok value for the money.

Bring Your A-Game!

This is a Pete Dye type design. Good shots aren't always rewarded, but bad shots are always treated harshly. If you can check your ego, then you might consider moving up one tee. 😉

Disappointing

I thought the course was okay, certainly nothing special. Far too tricked up for a fun round of golf, even for me as a relatively mid to low handicapper. Staff was not overly warm, particularly the starter.

Somewhat Disappointing

Played Red Mountain Ranch recently for the first time in many years. Just wasn’t too impressed. Appreciate the fact that it’s a shorter course, but it was just too tricked up and clever to make for an enjoyable round. In addition, somewhat underwhelmed by the staff, particularly the starter. Just wasn’t what I remembered and hoped.

Interesting approach shots

The course was pretty good greens were decent good speed. Some different kind of approach shots to tricky landing areas. My playing partner jugged one from 130 out using the back slope pretty cool moment for the fella
