The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Best Value in the area!!

Played here today. Course in great shape for August in Az. Great price for course condition. Not sure what happened to the great summer deal for golf in Az. Similar courses are $89-149 still. Crazy. This is a hidden gem.

Good course

Very challenging greens if you don’t land in good spot. Staff was super friendly and is always a plus in my book. I have zero complaints about this course.

A 50 dollar course

Played on 8/15, fresh off a rain storm so a perfect golf day. The gentleman at the register was extremely friendly and hooked our foursome up with two free bags of range balls before our tee time. The range was in decent shape, nothing special but i don’t like to hit many range balls before playing anyways. Starter was nice to begin with and explained the course very well. However, seeing him come up to us before even teeing off on the 3rd hole to tell us we were “way off pace” and that we need to really speed it up totally flipped the mood. Maybe it was the 2 twosomes you put behind us? After that, to be completely honest, our group didn’t change anything about our pace of play and we still made it back to the club house 7 minutes after 4 hours. Pair that with the iffy cut greens and splotchy fairways, i wouldn’t pay more than 50 bucks to play this course again.

Worth it before it gets too pricey

An AZ native, I've never had the pleasure of playing this course. Usually, nice ones such as this one are too pricey for me. In the summer, for $45, this was amazing! Were the fairways perfect? No. But neither is my game. Were the greens a little sandy and spotty? Yes. But so is my putting.

Book it. Enjoy it. Don't be boujee and expecting prime season conditions.

Challenging greens

Great course! Greens are tough, you need to land your chip shots onto the green properly or you’ll be three putting.

Tough but rewarding.

I gave amenities a four simply because it was later in the day and the restaurant was closed, but the facilities are in good condition. A couple of the tee boxes could use some turf work, but overall it is in great condition for the time of year. Bring your A-game because you’ll need it. Not a lot of level level lies, even in the fairway. If you enjoy a challenge, this is your course, because even a great shot can catch a bad bounce and put you off your target line.

Best value in NE Mesa

Like the old days warm mid day golf with very few fellow golfers slowing your summer golf pace. Free ice and water to start and water on most holes to drink

Course could use some markers as to which hole you were on and some of the greens were in need of repair. Other than that it was a pleasant experience!

Rough fairways and shaggy greens

I know it’s July and most courses dry out. However, these fairways are extremely dry. It was like hitting off of a hard mat. The greens were rolling at about a 9 which is too slow for this course. This course use to be one of the best maintained in the East Valley. I don’t know what has happened to it. If it’s a great deal I say play it, if not look for a course with good grass.

Fun but not perfect

Staff friendly for sure. Course is fun but has some goofy holes. Greens need a couple weeks to fill in.

Poor conditions

Expected better conditions for a “signature” Pete Dye course. Fairways, as well as a handful of greens, had far too many areas that should have been marked as ground under repair. This is a difficult, hilly golf course that demands precise shots; however, on this day, even the most precise shots were often rewarded with extremely patchy, virtually unplayable lies. Yes, it is early summer and conditions are expected to be marginal, but not marking off areas as GUR feels negligent as there were often grassy areas adjacent to the poor areas. Definitely will not be returning.

Fun summer golf!

This was my first time here and will be back for sure! Loved the course set up, staff, and range. We played first thing in the morning and hardly saw anyone else during our round. Only downside was they had just punched the fairways and have been having some pump issues, so fairways had some spots that were pretty bare. The green speeds were a bit inconsistent, but totally playable. Thank you for an enjoyable morning!

Awesome experience

Course is in great shape, the greens have been punch so your putts won’t roll as well as you’d like. On a hot deal through golf now price was perfect so no complaints and shout out to the pro shop. I arrived late asking if it’d be okay to still head out. Pro shop was chill about it no problem and made it for an enjoyable round. Course has cold water containers throughout the course to help with the summer heat pretty cool as that’s not something every course offers during summer golf.
