Superstition Springs Golf Club
About
The East Valley's Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona's most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features.
By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America's Best Golf Courses.
After - or before - a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside or on the patio, which overlooks the golf course's signature hole, the ninth.

Needs some care
Very pretty course. A few holes provide a good challenge with the expansive sprawling bunkers. But course needs sone care - ball washers are making a good “bathroom” perch for the numerous water fowl living on the course. Disgusting when attempting to use the ball washers. The path under the Hwy 60 overpass had very stagnant 8” deep sewer smelling water that carts had to drive through. Pump it out please. No washroom on the front nine.
Hopefully an off day
We were cart path only as there had been rain the previous couple of days. The course was very wet to the point of being a mud bog in spots. Bunkers were unplayable due to the moisture. Tee boxes, greens and fairways were decent enough. Where they hadn’t had mowers - on mounds and just off the fairway - was soft and mushy and the weeds had overtaken the desert areas.
Typical
Typical Arizona golf course that is not top tier… it has turned into a goat track. Our favorite part was the floating trash in the lakes…unbelievable the grounds crew could not get the trash out…it looked like some dump in Mexico - which actually makes sense given the shape of this Country as a whole. It is a grind out as many players as they possibly can keeping the course just barely playable… it is run down - the 10th hole along the road is kept nice -as is the 18th hole coming back into the clubhouse … the remainder of the course is horrendous. What was once a gem in the east valley is now on the list of places to avoid … the “putting” green has hundreds of range balls scattered all over it as you dodge players chipping - cramped and soggy range — also the gas powered cart would not go - so they did give me an electric one saying “yeah these carts are no good - sorry” …. Some investment money - a grounds crew that actually takes pride in their work with a maintenance schedule could restore the course - but for late November in AZ it is flat out embarrassing.
Not worth it
Seems to be poorly managed. Got lost trying to find the first tee. Tee times were stacked up so we waited on every single hole. Cool course but not worth the price. Ton of garbage in the ponds.
Would recommend but….
Good layout and challenging but not in very good condition. What I’ve learned is that you need to call ahead and ask about a few things to verify conditions. There was absolutely no sand in any of the bunkers. They claimed that they didn’t want to add sand to bunkers while watering for over seeding? Not sure where the sand went before overseeding. Greens were hit and miss. Wife fell in a hole next to the cart path by tee box that was big enough to bury a dog in.
Not great
Ruff is way too long, not enough carts and way too many tee times booked. The pace of play is terrible.
Challenging
Lots of places to get in trouble. I hit into a creek x 2, & almost water x 2. Sand traps were huge, hilly, very hard. I didn’t even try b/c it had rained alot the night before & the sand was wet & hard. But overall, we loved it. I would say I wasn’t thrilled with the use of mats on the driving range, I hate those. But the course was great if you like a challenge. I only gave 3 stars for course condition, but that’s b/c of the rain. The staff were very friendly and & helpful. We would definitely play there again.
Fair play
Course looked good coming out of an overseed. some areas could use clean up but was overall in good condition. a ranger would help. pace of play was not enjoyable.
