Post seed play
Beautiful day! Enjoyed it very much. Did not care for the cart path only. Would have liked to use my push cart. Several sand traps empty. I’m sure they were getting to them.
Sand traps terrible
Won't be back. The sand traps on the back nine were a joke. Most were hard pack dirt and gravel. The traps are an integral part of the course. Heavily trapped which make the holes impossible to play unless you can miss the traps completely. For the price they charge I will be playing other courses for sure.
Difficult course conditions diminished the experience
The course hadn't been watered in nearly a month to prepare for reseeding, but wasn't made aware of that when I called the course before making the reservation online. As a result the ground was so dried out that on two tee boxes our group was unable to even push tees into the ground, bunkers had no sand on some holes and were being actively filled on others while we played, and the greens were in very bad shape. Additionally, one of our golf carts died on the 5th hole and we had to wait ~20 minutes to get a replacement and let a group play through while we waited. Staff the day of were friendly and I'm sure the course is normally nicer, but was surprised not to be informed ahead of time about course conditions being so subpar and to also still have to pay the full rate.
They Don't Care about Your Experience
It's hard to give a review of the conditions because they were getting ready for overseeding and reworking their bunkers. The course layout was alright but it was only seen by our group forthe first 9 holes, because of the pace of play. We were only a group of 2 and we moved asking fairly well with a group that let us play through; but then we got to the 7th hole where there were 7 guys teeing off. We weren't sure if they were letting a group play through. We called the proshop to investigate, but that wasn't the case. They obviously were all together. The course Marshall did come out but nothing was done and let them proceed. In fact there were another group ahead of them with 6 players. The Marshall said nothing to us at which point we teamed up with another twosome. The next 2 and a half holes took us an hour and 15 minutes! Do the math to figure out what the back nine will take. So we stopped at the turn to talk to the pro shop. We didn't have that much time or patience to finish the round so we asked for a rain check. The proshop staff would not have anything with that because we were on the mark for the estimated nine holes. They totally ignored the fact that we flew through the first 6 holes: and they did not recognize how much longer we would have to endure because they had a sixsome and a sevensome in front of us. We also heard that earlier round in the day were marked at 6 hours. The guy in the proshop, who identified as the manager eventually tells me that, "this conversation is over" and would not engage our talk with us about this matter. We went out to take our bags to the car and the sevensome was still teeing off. I went back in to remind them that if they really cared, then why didn't they break them up while they were outside their door. The "manager" did go out but we just left. They just couldn't comprehend and put themselves in our position and try to make things right for us. It's unfortunate and disappointing, and will certainly keep me from coming back.
Scruffy conditions
Good: tee boxes and fairways are fine; good variety of holes; price is fair, though after 3 pm hard to get all 18 holes in. Staff is friendly.
Bad: greens are rough and don’t roll true. Bunkers are horrible! Most are hardpan, like hitting off your driveway. Some have too much sand! No consistency. Some blind shots that make it difficult for first-timers. Moguls in fairway and rough are not mowed properly. Mud ruts on several holes. Course could be great with better conditioning. Yup
StoneCreek Potential
Stonecreek has the potential to be an outstanding course with more attention to detail on the cutting of grass and weeds around the course. For instance, the weeds had overgrown around the bridge to the 10th hole green that you could barely walk on the bridge. Secondly, several bunkers were in such poor condition that you couldn't play out of them. This course used to be maintained in an excellent manner but in the last three or four years it has really gone down.
Outstanding course
I really enjoy playing Stone creek. Beautiful course and layout, quick pace when I played, and very friendly staff. I can’t think of any negatives!!
Convenience Galore!!
If you’re staying at the hotel, you simply walk out you front door to putting green, driving range, and clubhouse!! Great food and wonderful staff!
Trashy and Slow pace of play
Trash all over the course. Looked like the mowers didn’t care when mowing and shot it everywhere. Pace of play was terrible
Called Stonecreek for a reason
Hidden in the middle of the city this course has the links feel with holes going out then in bisected by a creek filled more with stones than water. Plenty of tee choices to challenge any golfer and nicely shaped and tiered greens to challenge your putting. A superb course that is off the top-10 list so it is more accessible and affordable.
Trash everywhere and muddy
Course was alright had good fairways I have never seen so much trash on a course before.
back 9 plus breakfast
It was what was expected for summer golf in AZ on a municipal type course. $35 got us the back 9 at 6:12 AM and a good breakfast.
