Fast round at Stone Creek
Fastest round ever in 2 and a half hours. Heat of the day in early September was brutal. I was highly motivated to keep moving forward and shot a score for me on that track. Greens and fairways were pretty rough but it was still a fun afternoon. I'll be back!
Terrible Management
Went on a Saturday afternoon when pace of play was slow but not unreasonable. We had the group behind us shoot into us on hole 16, then verbally assault, physically threaten, and use racial slurs against us as they played through.
This was reported to management who came out and did NOTHING because they didn't see it, even though it was obvious they played right through us. They allowed them to finish up with no repercussions and said we should 'play faster' even though the 2 some ahead of us was still finishing the hole.
Will Never go back to this place as they obviously dont care about their guests physical well being or care when racial insults are used. Horrible.
Desperate need of Maintenance
Returning to golf recently and decided to try out course that is 5 miles from my house. Although a fun layout and challenging course - I was shocked by all the trash and debris that was allowed to remain following recent storms. The staff and fellow golfers were friendly and I felt welcomed. I will not return to this course as there are so many options in Scottsdale where the pride of the course conditions show.
Lots of trash around water areas
Course was in pretty rough shape. Had lots of rain recently and the grass was spotting everywhere. Lots of trash around all water areas, looked very poorly kept.
Visit after 10 years
The course has always been good and challenging. Condition was a frequent problem in the past. In 2020 it was in pretty good shape, especially the greens. There were quite a few week and grassless areas, but overall it was a good day after many years.
Golf Rod
Didn't go, too hot. But I have played there often and it's a great track
Outside staff terrific, inside staff awful
Booked 8 pm the evening before for a 5:48 T-time prepaid with breakfast, I arrive 530 go into The golf shop and am told I don’t have a t time, I offered to show him my golf now confirmation and he didn’t want care, said it wouldn’t matter. I go outside 545, pretend to call golf now, head back into the shop and tell him golfnow said to provide golfing course reservation number. He checks me in and sends me to the tee no questions asked. What type of operation is being ran in that golf shop? I play 4 times a week and have never ran into this issue. Other than that the tees and greens we’re in great shape, fairways and rough are no better than your local park grass though however. Play fixie lies and hopefully you don’t run into the guy who was working in the shop this morning!
meh
Course conditions are pretty horrible. Greens are aerated and super crusty. Bunkers literally have no sand. Fairways and Tees? Below average. That being said, the staff is super friendly and for $20 at 6 pm I got 12 holes in solo before it got dark so it's not horrible.
Get what you pay for
I have played Stonecreek many times, but not in the recent past. Pace of play was painstakingly slow due to twosomes smashed in between foursomes. Overall condition of the course was average. Just looking around the facilities I noticed a lot of deterioration in just the upkeep which is telling users management/ownership does not care. If you want a cost effective round of golf this is your place, but you will get what you pay for. Mats on the driving range are worn and when I checked in range balls were not available. Kind of a demand item typically for a public golf course.
GREAT COURSE
Stonecreek has always been one of my favorite courses. You need a couple sleeves of balls if your game is off though. Lots of trouble through the whole course.
Enjoyed the course
None of us played very well but we survived the heat and enjoyed our round.
Apathy is apparent
Pace of play was not an issue because it was a weekday afternoon. But no water on the back nine at all and the beverage cart checked on us before teeing off and on hole #3. That is borderline hostility to players. Course conditions are awful even for Arizona summer standards. Often times there was no grass a couple feet off the greens. And the vegetation is far too overgrown to the point you can't see across it to landing areas. And an added bonus there are no visible yardage markers so much of the course is pure guesswork. I got a cheap rate and live 2 miles away and still feel it wasn't worth it at all.
Decent Track
Decent course. Played in July so you can't expect the course to be perfect when it's 110°. Almost 6,900 yards from the tips so you can hit most of the clubs in your bag. Greens were small so some tucked pins were hard to get close to. Bunkers need some fresh sand though.
