South at Antelope Hills Golf Course
About
The South Course is a links style track, giving Prescott the distinction of having what Veach calls "an almost British Open feel" course in the middle of the desert. It offers views of the towering mountains that help provide Prescott with its temperate temperatures from several holes.

Surprisingly good muni.
My wife and I very much enjoyed this course. Good overall grass quality, good greens, good bunkers. Amenities cart came around twice even on a Wednesday. And we were never held up.

Horrid Pace of Play
I’ve played Antelope Hills at least 14 times in the past several years during our annual June trip to Prescott.
Each year it seems the Golf Course Management is becoming more interested in maximizing filling tee box usage capacity than providing players with a good round experience.
When we played Sunday, 31 May 2020 as a 2-some, there was a 5-some in front of us. Never once asked us to go through. We waited 5-10 minutes on every hole every shot. There was a Ranger who stopped by to “chat” with them for 5 minutes on one of Par 3 tee box. When it was our turn on the tee box, I asked the Ranger why they were allowing 5-some groups on the Course. He said it’s allowed. They don’t show up on the tee-sheet (max is 4), but after they pay the Pro-shop they can form their own groupings. On this very same day, we saw at least three other 5-some players in front of them, one even walking. Who knows how many others are out there on the two Course, North and South. The Ranger said it was not against their Policy to allow players to form their own 5-some pairings. As a note, there were three 2-some players behind us. We asked the group behind us to join us but declined they wanted to just play “casual “ golf, I.e. hit several balls.
We should have finished in less than 4 hours, it took us 5 1/2 hours on the round.
Beware of long rounds Management allows 5-some groupings. And no required pairing of 2-some. Just been forewarned.

Always a good course
This is the third time I have played Antelope Hills. The first time was when I just began playing and it made me want to get better because some of the holes just have a fun layout. Brought my dad this time and he loved it, wants to come back and play the north course. If you want a good course you can score on but with a little danger, this is perfect. Had great chances to try and have a long drive competition with friends and very green every time I have played it.
Than you for the 5 star review and feedback. It's great to hear stories like yours. We look forward to seeing you and your family and friends out again soon.

Let's pretend...
Prescott is located just over 2 hours from my East Valley home. On Sunday, July 28 my friend and I drove up there believing that we had a reservation for 11:30 on the South course. We arrive to find that they have no record of our reservation. Pulling up the reservation email it turned out the idiot, who shall remain nameless, picked a tee time on the day he made the pre-paid "hot deal" reservation on Thursday the 25th.
When we realized the mix-up (we were willing to pay again due to the screw up on our part) the person behind the counter pulled up our Thursday reservation and said "let's pretend it's Thursday" and gave us our Thursday round on Sunday...something they did not have to do and I did not ask for. What great customer service!!!
In addition, the course is always in great shape, being in the fairway is a premium as the rough in penal. The bent greens always putt beautifully and are conducive to my game. Tee times there do not cost much more than you pay in the valley. The only extra cost is in time to get there but the bonus is that it is usually 15 degrees cooler (it was over 110 in the valley and 91 in Prescott).

Pace of play
Loved the course staff was great but unfortunately no one monitored on course pace of play. According to the card we should have finished in 4hrs. Reality -- 4:35 minutes with lots of waiting around for the foursome ahead to move on.
Thank you for posting a 4 star review. We appreciate your feedback and support. We will look into what caused the slower than normal pace of play and take steps to help avoid this in the future. Hope to see you again soon.
