San Tan Highlands (formerly known as The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch) boasts a championship course with a front nine that winds through the Sonoran desert and a back nine that finishes at the base of the bordering San Tan Mountains. Naturally, the first half of the golf course is relatively flat and the latter half has a hilly terrain. In contrast to its categorization as a desert course, this course has grass from the tees to the greens but the cactus-filled landscape definitely implies desert. The greens are quite large and undulating and the fairways are fairly open with generous landing areas. Strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards come into play throughout the San Tan Highlands.

Crazy slow play for a 930am tee time
I love the course, I love the staff, outstanding playing conditions however no Marshall so the pace of play is crazy slow

Way too slow.
I think a couple of the past gives are too short. Too many people waiting to hit green in two, not making it.
Marshalls are worthless. They do nothing, can't. It's the course.
For example, first hole. Our tee time. We went to the tee about 8:15. At that time, the group in front of us was just trying off. Started 10 minutes late.
4.5 hours almost any Saturday. Not unusual for 4:45/5:00.

narrow fairways from overseed process compared to last year. Very slow putting speeds on all greens.

Value was good however who was playing in front of us had a phone gun and was spraying it all over the course and it was easy to get confused by losing your golf ball amongst the phone that was very disappointing
