Poston Butte Golf Club
About
Located just southeast of Phoenix in the town of Florence, Poston Butte Golf Club offers some of the most affordable golf in the area. The course has desert attributes but the best part about its design is that it is more forgiving than some of the overgrown desert courses found in north Scottsdale. The golf course features 49 sand traps strategically placed around the landing zones and greensides and water comes into play on two holes. It is generally a player-friendly layout though with wide fairways and ample room off the tees. The par-3 17th is the signature hole, which is known for its challenging island green. Poston Butte also offers a double-ended, targeted grass range and a short game area.

THE 3 AMIGOS---ONE HEADING BACK TO THE GREAT WHITE NORTH TONITE--17TH HOLE --WE ALL HIT THE GREEN Photo submitted by uWYZB8651WY on 11/24/2012
Greens were aerated
The course should publicize the fact that the greens were aerated recently. Putting was almost impossible. Value for play was very limited.
Nice course
The course was very wet due to the monsoons and was surprised it wasn’t cart path only. The greens had been punched recently so the conditions of the greens were slow. We played the round in 4 hours and that’s not bad but it should have been faster. Had a group of 4 on the front side who were very slow. The back 9 had twosomes who were also slow and of course wouldn’t let us play through. We still had a great time and I would recommend this course. I don’t know why courses refuse to post when they punch the course.
Course was in decent shape considering all the monsoon rains leading up to the day we played. Greens have been recently punched and it affected most every putt, bunkers weee in good shape, fairways had soggy areas in the low spots.
Staff members were excellent but we were disappointed to find the bar/grill closed at 430p on Sunday when we got finished, ended up spending our beverage money elsewhere.
No warning.
Punched greens. Punched fairways. More mud than grass. No warnings. GolfNow don’t tell us. Course didn’t tell us. Avoid for at least four months.
Too much water and mud
Course was overly wet and soggy. Even in the middle of the fairway.
