Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
About
The course at the Orange Tree Golf Resort provides an excellent game of golf in a luxurious setting. The Parkland-style layout features fairways lined with mature trees, which not only enhance the natural beauty of the golf course but can also greatly affect shots. Four lakes are situated on the flat terrain of the course, providing water hazards that come into play on five holes. Sand bunkers also surround every green. Orange Tree Golf Resort's course finishes with its signature hole, where water cuts into the fairway and proceeds to run down the left side all the way to the green. It also requires accuracy on the approach shot in order to hit the small putting surface that is surrounded by tricky elements.

Golfer Reviews
conditioning was not good
The good: The people running the shop to the starter were great, friendly and helpful
The price was actually shocking but as you will see its priced what it was worth.
The pace of play was great
The bad: Its a muni course enjoyed by people who don't care how the course looks. They like the $33.00 fee. It was shocking how bad the condition was. Dry, hard as if no water has been put on it for awhile. Fairways had very little grass and two greens I just walked off without putting as they were chewed up quite bad as if an animal got to them. It was rock hard so tough to take a divot an no ball marks on the greens.
Having said this I will give them the benefit that we have had a very hot, dry summer and it was at the time of moving from summer to fall/winter grasses. Its been tough everywhere to be honest
I hate leaving these reviews but I have played golf all over the world for over 50 years and would rather leave a great review.
Greens need some TLC
I read a few reviews that said the course was in amazing condition and that everyone would enjoy their round. Well I'm sorry but Orang Tree Golf Resort's Greens are struggling. I get that its the summer and that we are in summer conditions but 2 reviews saying that they had a good experience must have not putted out on the greens. The course however is great, not much to complain about there. The staff was very friendly, and I was able to walk up and tee off ahead of schedule. I opted to join a twosome so we could just play some golf. We saw the cart girl 2x per 9 which I feel should be a standard. For the price I paid there are a few other options nearby that I will go to before I come back to OTGR.
Fast, Friendly & Fun
Course in great shape for early September. A bit of residual sand on greens. Wide-open fairways and straight-forward greens
In good condition
Have had a few really bad experiences here in the past. Between staff bringing us 45 minutes before sunset so they could watch a baseball game, to getting hit into 3 times in one round. This was a really pleasant round, great pace of play, course was really nice for the heat we’ve had. The only issue was sand on a lot of the green. This made putting a little unpredictable, since sometimes you roll through grass and sand, sometimes a little of both. But I’m sure this is also because of the heat, and to get ready for the season. Great value still, the fairways are really nice. Did get hit into on the tee box from the group behind us who was on hole 4. They made up for it by acing hole 7 behind us
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for your honest feedback regarding your experiences at our course. I'm terribly sorry to hear about the unpleasant incidents you've encountered in the past. Please know that we're committed to offering an enjoyable golfing experience to all our guests and any instances contrary to this standard are deeply concerning to us. The revelation about our staff's behavior is disappointing. I assure you this isn't the culture we condone or represent. We are now taking significant steps to enhance our staff's service mindset, and we assure you that such incidents won't repeat in the future.
I appreciate your understanding about the sand on the greens. Yes, it is due to the overwhelming heat we've been experiencing and also part of our maintenance process to prepare for the season. Regarding the incident on the tee box, I apologize for the discomfort it caused you. Close proximity of the 5th tee and 4th green can indeed sometimes cause such unintended situations despite the best precautions.
Once again, I want to express our gratitude for your feedback. It's patrons like you who drive us to continuously improve and offer the best possible golf experience. We hope to welcome you back soon for an enhanced and enjoyable experience at our course.
Thank you,
Darren Bradley,
Director of Golf,
Orange Tree Golf Club.
Pace of play
There were several groups that had no business being in a golf course. Yes, everyone has to learn someplace, but not during prime time on a Sunday. No rangers to be found to advise newbies to let people play through.
Avoid
“Pace of play” is not a thing here. On pace to play almost a 6 hour round which is ridiculous. Will not ever be coming back here, course is half decent but so terribly mismanaged to the point where it ruins this course. They need to figure out how to keep groups moving.
Off season
Overall, the course was fun to play. It was definitely the off-season, and the greens were very sandy. On about half of the holes, the cups were damaged, which caused a lot of lip outs. But overall, it was a solid value for money.
Poor shape Poor maintenence staff
Tee boxes were in bad shape. Some uneven. Fairways ok but patches of missing grass. Greens are horrible.
Maintenance staff were plentiful. Quite a few driving to other areas disrupting pace of play. Others just sitting in vehicles under trees. I could not play the 12th or 16th because Maintenance staff were on the green blowing or mowing and would not move even though they knew golfers were waiting. I do not recommend nor will I ever play there again.
Don’t believe the haters
The course is in phenomenal shape, given the clear lack of rain that it has received. Fairy grass is excellent, and the dry spots are in the drip line of the trees showing that they have not received any rain. The greens are a little fluffy, but they should be because if you cut them to true conditions, the heat would burn the grass and then you’ve got a bigger problem. Overall, I think the club (buildings, snack shop, carts, etc) would benefit from a thorough cleaning/brightening. I think given its location, it would be an excellent opportunity for a fun/energetic location similar to how Dobson Ranch has made it a destination course/place to hang out. Female staff outfits/uniforms could use some improvement as well.
Thank you for the amazing review. WE have come along way in house the course and property look. We still have along way to go. We hope to see you back out here soon to continue to enjoy our little hidden gem in the valley. Darren Bradley DOG
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for your recent visit and for your candid feedback about our course.
We were delighted to hear that you found our staff friendly and helpful, and that you were satisfied with the pace of play. It’s always a pleasure to receive positive comments about our team.
However, it's unfortunate to hear about the issues you faced with the course conditions. We understand that the course condition was not as you anticipated and we would like to clarify the circumstances surrounding your experience. A few days following your visit, our course was scheduled for overseeding. This process involves browning out the grass for about a week prior to the actual shutdown, I'm afraid that's what you experienced.
Due to this procedure, water supply was indeed halted approximately 2-3 days before your round. Combined with a chemical treatment, these conditions were meant to induce the Bermuda grass into dormancy. Unfortunately, this led to the dry and harsh conditions you experienced during your gameplay.
We always strive for excellence in maintaining our courses, but sometimes the timing of crucial lawn-care procedures may lead to less than ideal situations. We deeply regret any inconvenience and hope that this experience does not dissuade you from your future visits.
Once again, thank you for your honest feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back soon to enjoy our course at its peak.
Sincerely,
Darren Bradley
