Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
About
The course at the Orange Tree Golf Resort provides an excellent game of golf in a luxurious setting. The Parkland-style layout features fairways lined with mature trees, which not only enhance the natural beauty of the golf course but can also greatly affect shots. Four lakes are situated on the flat terrain of the course, providing water hazards that come into play on five holes. Sand bunkers also surround every green. Orange Tree Golf Resort's course finishes with its signature hole, where water cuts into the fairway and proceeds to run down the left side all the way to the green. It also requires accuracy on the approach shot in order to hit the small putting surface that is surrounded by tricky elements.

Pleasently surprised
Course was in solid shape for this time of year. They had cold water out. Will be back soon.
Orange Tree Golf Resort July 4th Review
I’v been playing OT, on and off, for about 15 years. For 4 years in a row I wrote the course saying it ought to be embarrassed for having “clay” bunkers—largely untilled or raked, and greens, a third of which had up to ⅓ of them barren (down to dirt). The bunkers are now sand, raked and tilled, which is great. However the green’s issue remains and lots of work is needed to make them satisfactory. As this was the beginning of the 4th of July weekend, the fairways and rough had not been cut. Again, very disappointing for a “golf resort.” Also, the general overal outside appearance of the facilities is VERY dated—with NO apparent changes in the last 15+ years. One of my golf buddies, who played Orange Tree BEFORE there were houses. concurs..
Nice course!
Well I really enjoyed the course. I’ve been wanting to play here for a while. My drive is 45 minutes so I decided to give it a go on the 4th. Not disappointed at all. Yes, a couple of greens need some work but it’s summer in Arizona. Other than a foursome of kids slowing everything down it was worth the drive. Thank you Orange Tree hope to see you soon.
Nice Course
This was my third course in Arizona. While the layout was decent and the fairways were generally fair despite being lined with homes, there were a few maintenance issues that really affected play.
They watered the greens during the day, which is unusual, and unfortunately, the sand traps were wet as a result. Wet bunkers are not playable, and these hadn’t been reworked after watering. In that condition, I would recommend treating them as ground under repair and pulling your ball out.
The greens were also incredibly slow — I’d rate them about a 6–8 on the stimpmeter. That took some getting used to.
Course management is important here. You don’t always need to pull out a driver, even on some of the par 5s. Thoughtful shot placement will serve you better than just distance.
Getting Better
For summer conditions, the course played well. I know Jon just came onboard and I'm sure the greens improvements will be coming along shortly. It still would be nice to have cart services but I also understand that not many people are playing in the afternoon. I don't recall if anyone was at the snack shop when I made the turn. Keep up the good work, guys.
Great course!!
Great staff, great conditions, great rangers. Thank you orange tree!
Course needs work on fairways
Course fairways need work but most of the greens were in good condition. Ranger was not very nice as he asked up to pick up the pace even though we weren't that far behind the group ahead of us. The group behind us was 1 or 2 holes in back of us and we never saw them until the 16th green we were teeing off 17th and it may have been a different group.
Orangetree Scottsdale
Several greens pretty beat up. We had to move our balls in order not to roll thru damaged spots. I’ve always liked the layout, but it can wear down during the hot summers.
Az golf 59
Great course that was very green. Best rangers I have seen in 10 years- did their job and kept the idiots in front of moving.
Poor Greens
The Putting greens were in poor condition. Multiple greens had spotty putting greens. Need to take care of the greens.
Several greens were in bad shape as was numerous fairways.
Several greens were in really bad shape but most were very good. Fairways need help as most were in bad shape. Course had just been worked on as many plugs were all around. Course Marshall told us to pick up pace even though we had to wait on over half of the holes
Finished round in 4 hours so there wasn't a need to bother our foursome
Great course. Some greens are a little rough, but staff told us about them.
Great course and great bar after for a few cold ones.
Messed up tee times again!
I like the layout of this course. And really like to play here. But this is the 2nd time my tee time through golf now was messed up at the course. The 1st time I booked, showed up and the COURSE WAS CLOSED. No email, text, nothing. Never even a call after I sent a message of complaint. Yesterday 6/7, I show up 20 minutes early for my 6:04 tee time and no one is there but the cart guy who says the pro shop doesn’t open until 6 am.
They finally show up and say, the earliest tee time is 6:28. I show them my confirmation email of 6:04 and the pro shop blames golf now. I said no, they are YOUR vendor, it’s the course’s responsibility.
We pay and go to tee off, the starter shows up at the 1st tee and asked us to wait 20 minutes because the greens keepers will stop working if we are on the course too early. Oh and we also need to make sure we don’t play too fast because they have back 9 tee times until 8 am. He was very nice about it all, but come on.
The greens were Terrible, the worst I’ve seen in AZ. Slow, bumpy, bare spots with sand. For $72 in June, they way
