The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.

The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

Not Quite There

While the course has a challenging layout, the course conditions exacerbated making decent shots. There was a lot of water on the course, with the traps being more like mud depressions. Many landing areas were so soft, the ball would become plugged. The greens were in fairly decent condition, with a pretty consistent roll from green to green. The clubhouse was very nice and employees courteous and professional.

Great course. Not a great value for the money

Played on a Saturday morning and was the first tee time off. The course was very very wet and in some spots unplayable. I believe if the price for 18 was $50-$75 less I would have no complaint but for what it’s currently priced it did not seem worth it. Will return and play again when I am town.

Dog track

Played during the busiest week of the year and paid a premium. You would figure they would have prepped for this event, but they definitely did not. Was brutal, wouldn’t pay $50 to play this dog track. Won’t be back ever.

Not great

Came down from Minnesota to play a little golf. This course did not impress like Estrella and Starfire.

Fairways seemed to be painted. Dead grass everywhere

Anything off the fairway was sand. Seemed like they ran the sprinklers all night and the course was just sloppy.

I did think the greens were really nice but that was about it.

Go play Estrella for a cheaper price and much better course conditions

Great couples course

I spent a bunch of time reading all the reviews and they were spot on.

A cold January made it a bit more challenging. The back nine on the pine course was the best part, layout was challenging and the greens were great. Tough putting!Make sure to spend some time practicing putting from above the hole as three putts are more common on the back nine. Stay below the hole on your approach!!!

We played with another couple and it was a good course for the ladies too.

Par for Average

We played the Pine course, which was OK. For the money, I would recommend the Palm course. Pine is OK if you can get a deal below $100 during winter.

The Pine course was average challenge and scenery. The rough was completely dry/yellow, which seems to be standard for the courses I played this week. The greens were in good shape and fast.

The carts lack basic technology, and that was disappointing for the fees you pay.
