TPC Scottsdale - The Champions Course

First time playing here and it lived up to the expectations. Have played a few courses in the area and this was by far the best and the value was unreal. Would highly recommend playing here.

I will say up front, this is a beautiful course, great layout, challenging, lots of risk vs reward choices. However, the overall experience was brought down by the pace of play. My group was a twosome, behind a foursome, which was behind another foursome. We waited in between every single shot throughout the entire round. Other than the start, we didn’t see a ranger the entire day so I’m assuming the course was either unaware or thought the play would eventually smooth out. Ten to fifteen minute wait times at the tee, five to ten minute wait times for approach shots. Again, it’s a beautiful course and the amenities are fantastic but no one wants to wait forever in between shots.

I would say the first notable thing was the frequency of small private aircraft traversing right over the top of the golf course. We calculated it to be every 5 to 8 minutes. A new aircraft landed. We feel that the advertisements on the carts course screen were excessive. The conditions of the course physically were outstanding! The service of the staff in the friendliness of the staff was outstanding! The frequency of the teetimes being every nine minutes seems to be excessive. A timeframe of every 12 minutes seems to be more optimal. The outcome of that course activity was that we were waiting on every tea box to take our turn.

It’s ok. For the money I would rather play Talking Stick or We-Ko-Pa courses.

If you’re an avid golfer this is a ‘must play’ for you while in AZ. It’s a little pricey but much cheaper than the stadium course. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Waste bunkers are plenty. Not an easy course to score on first time around but lots of fun.

Pace of play is slow due to visitors searching for their stray balls too long. Marshal is vocal about warning but no enforcement. They don’t like when you complain to them. Premium $ and no ball washers.

Pace of play was slow. Waited on every tee. Went complained attitude was that is just what it is.

Pace was chill, but constant, until my group ran into a golf bro foursome smoking MJ and taking their time. One guy took his time drinking beer behind a tree, which made my group think they were moving on so we took our drives, but then crisscrossing the fairway three times after that, lifting my ball that was clearly marked and walking away with it. A 1:50pm tee time had us finishing in the dark thanks to these guys. Would definitely return to play here, though… just hope for no golf bros making others waste time. Such a beautiful track.

We had a 5.25 hour round! We were going to walk off after 4.5 but for the price we just couldn’t. It was expensive. They didn’t tell us until we played that it was cart path only.

Nice track, very wet. 5.25 hour round…. Did I mention the 5.25 hour round?

No rangers on course to speed up play.

No residence discount either.

I live there in the valley but kinda far from TPC, plus it’s a little pricey most of the time. Except during sunmer, so my group and I always play once a year when it’s cheaper. And it’s an absolute treat to play here every time. I’m blown away from the bag drop to the cart return it’s a fantastic experience and a different level of service. Thanks for a great round!
