Pace of Play Is Glacial
I’ve played Starfire quite a bit because it generally has open teetimes. The worst part is the pace of play. I’m writing this on the 17th hole given that there’s nothing better to do for the next 20 minutes.
My advice? Pack a lunch. You’re in for a long day.

A Beautiful Course
Too expensive and challenging for me, but a very lush course. Hackers be prepared: heavily trafficked roads line many of the holes. And all holes run through a dense housing complex as evidence by the nets and fences positioned behind many homes.
Tee boxes
Some need attention and are pretty rough. With concave boxes, edges are tough to use with down slopes.
Great course for the average golfer
This is a great course for the average golfer. It challenges you and has interesting holes. It is not a really long or narrow course. It does not demand target course management like some AZ courses. The course and driving range are in very good condition.
Unfriendly members
Frost delay made us tee off around 9:30am, and our foursome was second group to tee off. The first group (members) were getting off the green as we got to the first tee (par 5). We encountered 2 twosomes one after another, we had to let them pass through. The problem was the three some ladies (assuming members) were right behind our group. Obviously they had to wait on most of the holes, so we had our ladies not playing ~ 3 to 4 holes to expedite our playing.. One of the ladies drove the cart right up to our tee box when we were teeing off on 17th hole. Obviously she was upset, she drove the cart off the cart path in the rough toward the 16th green. We traveled from Maryland to play, but it ruined our perception on Scottsdale golf we dreamed of. I do not like slow play, but the threesome ladies following us were not understanding at all. Bad Taste ...... snotty members. I am sure there are a lot of good members, but not the threesome behind us.
