Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course

About
The Talking Stick Golf Club features two golf courses designed by the architecture team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who created distinct golf courses with enough choices to accommodate all levels of golfers. The golf club sits on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation, a spot that provides the serenity necessary to endure a testing day of golf.
"Talking Stick's O'odham (formerly known as North Course) course, with its broad, angular holes rewards thoughtful play through the rise of its many options according to one's level of skill. Its low-profile, slightly crowned greens and close-cropped approaches encourage running as well as aerial assaults." -- Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw
The second hole is a par 5 that measures 552 yards from the Black tee and is one of two long holes, with the 17th being a par 5 that plays to 582 yards from the Black tees.
The 18th hole on the O'odham Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club is shorter, relatively speaking, a par 4 that measures 471 yards from the Black tees.

Great time!
Renovated Clubhouse and Golf shop.
Course in excellent shape!
EXCELLENT STAFF INSIDE AND OUT. ONLY COMMENT WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE GREENS A LITTLE FASTER THIS TIME OF THE YEAR SINCE THE WEATHER IS COOLER AND GRASS GROWS LESS STRESSED
5 hour rounds aren’t acceptable
Course was in ok condition. Greens will only hold a wedge everything else bounces off. Bunkers are pretty poor. Biggest complaint is pace of play. They pack this course to maximum capacity which is fine but the rangers need to manage that. We spoke with the rangers on 3 different occasions and they were aware of a group holding up the entire course and did nothing about it. They said “it is what it is.” Not sure how this is acceptable and isn’t it the rangers job to keep the pace of play moving????? Play elsewhere that cares about their guests experience not just the money grab.
Nice round at Talking Stick
Easy access from Scottsdale. Very nice amenities both on and off the course. Layout is not too difficult but there were several spots where the desert areas came into play. We will be back to play the south course too!!
Good value, excellent amenities, friendly staff!
I have played several times at both courses (North and South) over the years and always enjoy the experience. The TeeOff/GolfNow rate of $80 worked well and even with teeing off at 12:51 we got our 18 holes in before it got too late to play. There used to be a lot of good deals at this course, but since Covid, you have to really search for a good price.
Excellent Grounds Crew, course is in perfect condition. No wonder there are so many people who loose at Casinos, They have to have a Expensive Grounds crews to maintain this level of Excellence!
Pinehurst in the desert?
I’d been curious to see Coore & Crenshaw’s courses at this 36-hole facility for years, and my visit to O’odham managed to blow my high expectations away. The combination of the low-profile, convex and strategic design with ideal conditions – hot, dry, firm, fast – made for one of the best golf experiences I have had all year. The fact that I paid less than $60 for it was icing on the cake.
Flat but good
Played the north course. Right under 4 hours. Outr foursome never felt rushed. Good condition. Either in the fairway, a little short grass or then you’re in the desert. Overall was in good shape. Greens were a little sandy but I liked them. Use to playing at 6,500 feet. Took multiple holes to adjust. It was thanksgiving day so nothing open except the beer cart.
Beautiful Desert Course
First course I played in the Phoenix area. Very memorable for its desert feel and great quality.
