About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Which means lots of poop everywhere. I like the course. It is challenging. Would like to see it taken care of better!
Pace of play was very slow, but greens were in great shape and the rest of the the course was okay.

Usually Hillcrest is like any other mid range course. The over seed doesn't come in great and the grass is a little thin. WOW, the grass was very nice, could get a club under the ball. Green rolled well also. We will definitely come back. Bunkers still need some care, but most courses have that issue.
The course layout has….
Character in its design but the overall condition is a bit on the tawdry side. Fairways and greens were generally in good condition but the tees, sand traps and rough were, to put it mildly, not good.. Tees were choppy, sand traps did not have much sand in them and were rock hard and the rough was a real kidney killer if you were in a cart. The par 5 holes are all awesome along with holes 11 and 12
Needs Attention
This course needs a lot of attention, pot holes everywhere...drive slowly if you are using your own cart. The restroom facilities are disgusting both at the clubhouse and out on the course. Layout is fine but greens are inconsistent. A little TLC would vastly improve this course.
Good Value just slow
Course was in good shape. Greens ran true. Pace of play was horribly slow. Better be ready for 5 hour round watching old farts hack it up,

Fairways and greens were in great shape. Bunkers were hardpan and rocky, without any sand…zero. Facilities are very old and probably original to when it was built.
Great prices on food and drinks. For $50, it was worth the round.

Very good course design. Greens in good shape, fairways fair but inconsistent grass length, bunkers awful. Cart paths awful or nonexistent. Too high price compared to other area courses at same or less and in better condition. Too many bad areas to warrant playing ball down.
Had a lot of Fun
We had a lot of fun playing golf with another couple. The course is in pretty good shape and the greens were challenging. It’s a beautiful course surrounded by a lot of water. Need some clean upon the course restrooms.
