Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills
About
The executive-length Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills (formerly known as Rolling Hills Golf Course) provides an excellent game and it is a very player-friendly course. True to its name, the course is quite hilly causing a few elevation changes and undulating greens. The fairways are lined with pretty trees, adding some challenge and beauty to the course. There are no water hazards but there are a few strategically placed bunkers to worry about as well as some out-of-bounds stakes bordering a few of the holes. Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills consists of ten par 3s and eight par 4s. On the premises there are also practice facilities, a pro shop, and an on-site golf pro.

Not worth the price
Too expensive! Played here a couple of times prior to the takeover and considered it good value for money but not right now. Greens were nice but the rest of the holes are dirt. Beware, it turns into par 3 at night so no par 4's at all. Impossible to find a nice space on the tee box to tee off- the ground was hard so only take short tees if you have them. Overall, it seemed that I paid 3 times the price on Sunday afternoon sunset for a softer golf cart seat.
Short but difficult course
Mostly par 3. but difficult course that will let you use every club in your bag.
Cancellation
This place is a joke. Booked 14 days in advance to try and get a chance to play golf at night and they cancelled 30 minutes before our tee time due to an event then told us they wouldn’t be able to do anything or get us in any other day of our five remaining days. Place is a joke.
Target golf
Course under construction. Target golf but the greens were challenging which was good. Course in fairly good condition.
Still in transition
Course is being update but staff does it's best to accommodate. Tee off on mats. Would go back for sure.
A good place to practice
I had not played this course since it was re-opened. The conditions were very good. The greens were good and the fairways were very nice. They also let you have your own cart as a single, which other courses in Arizona don't seem to do. I played in the day, so there are some par 4's mixed in. You can use all your clubs. (At night, they use different tees and it's all par 3's.) I think it was just right to spend a round practicing your irons and short game. The par 3s are all different lengths, from 100 to 200. The longest par 4 was about 310.
Great Wed
Fun playing this course. Love all the airplanes flying over
Going the right direction
First time playing and the course is moving in the right direction. Heard a lot about the changes so I had to take see the hype for myself. The course is fun, mostly par 3’s at the moment, great greens, and an easy walk. The back nine was really nice! Hole 9 is beautiful and tricky, and actually shows a little of that Jackson Kahn design. Hopefully that bleeds into the front nine one day. I’ll definitely come back for some night golf.
Redo
The new course redo is not fair the members and the players that have supported this municipal course for years. Changing the front nine to all par 3 holes changed the course dramatically. The young people they have brought in as starters have no idea how to run a course. The carts are a welcome upgrade, but are a nuisance as they will not allow you to cross a fairway on the back nine on the par four holes. They just stop and tell you to return to the cart path. Annoying!
Rocks rocks and more rocks
The staff was as good as i have seen at any course. But we had to many balls hit the rock/stone area. And they flew anywhere. You weren't allowed to drive the cart to the ball. The carts were very nice, even gave distance. However it was only good at tee off because you weren't allowed to drive to the ball. My partner fell after getting out of the cart. There are large rocks along the cart path and hard to cross over to get to the ball. The course has always been a favorite. But it has changed not for the best. But very nice people there.
Fun course.
Fun time. Greens were in great shape. The distances on the card and GPS were off for hole #9 and we over clubbed our tee shots; otherwise it played true. Food on the outdoor patio was really good. Will be back.
greens are unreal
