El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course

About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

The starter "Bob" was fantastic!
The staff as extremely friendly & accommodating. We arrived there 45 early & they got us a tee time earlier than we reserved which was great. The bad?...... we had to wait on EVERY tee. Lock & almost every shot in the fairway.

Challenging
The course was great and in excellent condition. I am not a great golfer. Some say what I do is not considered golf but even for me I thought the course left enough room for those of us who struggle hitting the driver straight. I enjoyed the scenery and also got to see a mountain lion stroll across the course. The driving range was closed so wasn't able yo warm up but otherwise everything was worth the expense.

one of the better public/private
Always enjoy playing this course. one of THE better public/semi private courses in Tucson with two very nice 18's to choose from. working on improvements annually.

After the storm
The course was a little ravaged by the storms earlier in the week. But the staff has done an excellent job of clearing the sand and trees out of the way of play. Repairs were on going when we finished our round.

Best value course in Tucson
Are there nicer courses? Sure. Do I want to pay double to play them? Nope. This course is the best value in Tucson. Beautiful, great staff, convenient side stops for Mexican food, beer, drinks or whatever you may need around holes 11/15.
We ran into a few jerks who kept playing into us on this particular visit, but after we chucked their balls back at them there were no issues.

Nice all around
Course conditions good in all aspects. They continue to work on playability. Didn’t like the fact that pin location was the same from 4 days earlier which shows slack preparation. Wondering how often greens are mowed?
It was hot, there was cold water in buckets at proper intervals, just monsoon (humid) summer in Tucson, deal with it (play early).
Clubhouse food and bar OK. Other course closed for extensive improvements. A convenient place to play, there are better, but nice to visit occasionally.

Great Course for the Money
This was the 3rd time I played this course and it was in very good condition. Booked through TeeOff and got a great price. I would recommend this course and will be back again.

BEST Value for a TUCSON Area Course
The Canada course is well laid out and challenging. I will come back when the other course is ready after re-construction. I am also going to look at membership. I need a "golf home". Thank you-Terry W. Protto
